If there's one player I can't stand in the league it's that Karl Sheppard.

Attendance figures were down a bit at the cross last year, surely be an improvement this season.
Have to admit I have never hated a player as much as I did Sheppard last season.

I guess like everywhere else if you aren't competitive then crowds will drop away but tbf last year was an absolute joke from the word go. JC bought all these players in to play 352 and we got spanked 3 0 by Fenns Longford in pre season and JC abandoned the whole thing which left us short of viable players etc and then it just went from there. Hopeful of a relatively successful season and does look as if Fenn has picked up a couple of cracking youngfellas on loan, so we will just see what happens, but the lat 24 hrs press stories mean once again we are being watched off the field as much as on it

No idea what to expect as I head to the cross on Friday night in terms of the season but i know we will be better then last year as we couldn't be worse. $hels was always the game we loved in the mid 00s so to have them first up in the cross with a new young city side and a bit of a buzz around again is fantastic. Pats will be at the races this year and I am confident that we are only being written off by those who know nothing about the players we have brought in. At least no matter what we won't be forced to watch a bunch of cowards disgrace the shirt again this year. It's ironic that Shep's first game for Shels is at the cross, the man didn't try one yard last season but will probably run a marathon now on Friday night

Best of luck for the season Nero. Hope to get to the Cross again this season. A nice ground.

I remember in the 1940's we always had a friendly with Shamrock Rovers. Signed some good players from them too. Peter Farrell and Tommy Eglington to mention just two.

Never mind the 40s, Everton came over to play Rovers every summer from 1967 to 1972. My first time seeing Everton was 1970 at Milltown including the Holy Trinity.

See Bluecorrespondent site. On phone so will post link later

Here ya go!!

It is inaccurate to say that the Dublin games were all at Dalymount. I know that 1971 was played there, in a thunder storm - I was scared s...less as a 6 year old!!

1991 was at the RDS

As previously posted 1970 was at Milltown. I can't vouch for the other venues.

Should be doing it again at Tallaght. Real Madrid, and Juventus have already played there in a friendly and in a CL qualifier. We need to get the Irish Everton fanbase back to where it was before the 1970s.

Not many goals about tonight. Was in oriel for the season opener. Derry looked bright early on but then seemed to settle for a draw. Dundalk pressed and got a winner. Off to a winning start. Rovers playing catch up.

The utter state of our national broadcaster advertising the game and they have some jodie foster flick on instead.

Quite a few scenes not suitable for this time of the day either.
