Its definitely a bit weird and unfair but It might actually make me consider watching weightlifting for the first time in my life, could be some top class drama/fume when they inevitably crush the competition.

One thing I find a bit odd is how many people (no one here) seem to think this persons literally chopped their nob off purely to win at the Olympics rather than because they genuinely feel like a woman trapped in a mans body... I mean if that truly is the case then they probably deserve the medal regardless as that's some next level dedication to winning.

No, I feel sorry for her, genuinely. To go through that transition isn't a joke; she clearly believes she was born the wrong sex and wants to be the 'correct' one for her, and everything that entails.

Unfortunately, the fact remains she is biologically male. So there has to be an element of reality with what the transition ultimately means. Trans rights should be enhanced greatly, but they should never be at the expense of women's rights.

Trans women are trans women; they are not women. Don't take away the trans aspect of these people. That is transphobic.

If I were her I would decide not to compete due to the unfair advantage, because she wants to shows what her character is like. Actually competed as a male weightlifter and now going in against women, not like she found the sport after transitioning. With Caster you can kind of sympathise that she has been caught up in something not of her own making due to a cruel twist of fate, this one made that choice.

If it walks like a man, sounds like a man, and looks like a man... chances are it's probably a man.

Identifying as something else doesn't change that perception to others. Be your own judge...

I'm not talking about her.

You can talk, walk and look how people perceive how a male/female does and still be the other sex. That has nothing to do with trans. It's lazy and simplified a complex issue.

It's one way of looking at it, but I can empathise with someone who has taken a decision to "be" a woman and the process you have to undergo to "be" a trans woman. If that were me, I'd want to in every way possible be that thing.

I agree she's selfish. She lacks the ability to understand (or if she does, lacks the ability to care) about innate sex advantage. However, I can at least understand why she is selfish. It shouldn't be up to her to compete; the sporting authorities should have put facts before feelings and simply said no.

Ok, but context... this thread is about trans-genders competing in top level sporting events.

Yes just to be clear no problem with anyone transitioning, that's their choice. It's just choosing to compete against females is the issue. They should know being an athlete how hard it is to get to that stage without this situation on top.
