No, no no. It's terrible dirge. Pacific rim job
Hmm, it makes me wonder what you were expecting from the movie.

Much like Godzilla, you aren't going to get amazing acting, a deep plot, great character development. It just won't happen.

Charlie Hunnam was rubbish in it, as was the guy who played the Australian Jaegar pilot (the son, not the dad). But Rinko Kikushi and Idris Elba were both good. Charlie Day provided adequate comic relief. Ron Pearlman did what Ron Pearlman does.

What you get is GIANT robots fighting GIANT monsters. And on that front it delivered. It looked good, it sounded good and the action was just about right.

It more than doubled the money spent on it ($190M budget, took in over $400M worldwide) so we are getting a sequel.

Which incidentally has a new poster:

Switch off the brain and enjoy!!!!

I don't mind Pacific Rim at all. As you say it's switch your brain off fun.

There has to be a place for those movies.

Hacksaw Ridge. A stunning yet harrowing war film. Haven't cried so much in a long while. Incredibly moving.

I thought it was pretty terrible TBH

First hour was like 'Pearl Harbor' - Pure saccharine cheesefest

Second hour was like a collection of every warfilm stereotype from the past 50 years

And seeing Vince Vaughan being pulled along on a blanket should have been set to the Benny Hill music

Sure, but I feel you can let any movie off the hook with the switch off your brain argument. I think movies still should be good even if it demands that you don't intellectually engage it. Like Independence Day. Leave your brain at the door, great film. Pacific Rim. Leave your brain at the door, still a piece of crap

It's almost like people have different tastes in films isn't it frandlkopff?

I'm more than happy to leave my brain at the door for a good action movie! Just thought it was unimaginative bumpf!

Just watched Trainspotting for the first time.

Really good film.

Why would anyone want to do that to themselves, though?

I know it's set in Scotland, but my Dad says Liverpool was rife with heroin in the 80's.
