Last Film You Watched

i liked it as a psychological drama and after the tense bunker scene i thought he was redeemed quite beautifully....realistic too. Adding the actual end-of-the-world scenario seemed pure daft and far-fetched...just jarring...much like the raining frogs from Magnolia. Chastain i just can't abide her, she's naturally very unsympathetic and is unable to act her way out of it.

...all just my opinion of course, i think we agree the film was otherwise pretty good.

Different strokes for different folks I guess - that's the fun in healthy debate

Another film with an ambiguous (and probably 'Marmite-y') ending was 'Sound of my Voice' - Another modern classic

another recent trio:

Snowpiercer 2/10 - cheap stupid rubbish, ok it cost 40m to make but watching it you'd think it was a student film.

Shutter Island 7/10 - very watchable except for the usual cheap trick of using the evil Nazis to make a point (you never see Hiroshima being used in the same way). DiCaprio is also never convincing...in any film he's ever done. Plus I spotted the twist long before the reveal. But despite all that it was a good watch with expert camerawork.

Snow White: a Tale of Terror 5/10 - Sigourney Weaver is great value as always, and there's some hilariously-shocking scenes, but some of the editing was a bit amateur and the whole thing felt very light in the end. Not quite worth your time unless you're a fan of the brothers Grimm or sister Weaver.

Time to rewatch some guaranteed greats...getting bit bored wasting time watching forgettable faff. Excalibur after a couple whiskeys up next, I reckon.

Imperium, starring Daniel Radcliffe,it was a dwcent storyline, involving white supremists in the USA but he just didnt suit the role in my eyes, imagine Elijah Wood in Green st and it will give you some idea of how he was mis-cast

aye, i knew that as soon as I saw the poster. He was also horribly miscast in The Woman in Black. It's like the industry is trying to make him into something he's not (bit like DiCaprio).

Now Edward Norton was able to pull off a role like that because he's some serious acting chops.

That role was made for the like of Norton though that might be because I picture him in American History X,Radcliffe just couldnt look or act menacing which is kind of central to the plot,he was more suited to the film i watched earlier, the swiss army man, playing a corpse and even that challenged him
