I also finally got around to watching Predator: Badlands the other night, mate.Watched that Predator: Badlands last night.
Entertaining enough but a bit of a mixed bag for that Aliens / Predator universe. Some decent nods to Ripley, others to the Aliens:Earth characters.
Not entirely sure what to make of the animal side kick
I didn’t think it was as bad as some made it out to be on here. It didn’t ‘wow’ me, but it certainly wasn’t bad.
If I'm channel surfing and either of those are on then I'm watching.
I get that they aren't objectively good but I've got a soft spot for a lot of less than stellar sci fi / action flicks of that late 80's early 90's era and the coming together of practical effects and bad early CGI.
There's so much actually good stuff to enjoy though. It might just be me but JCVD leans into terribly wooden actor territory so so badly.

It also felt like Sly somehow got the impression that if you stuff enough B/C grade has been action actors into one movie franchise, it automatically makes it good?
Dolf Lungren is a proper odd one.
He has a degree in chemical engineering, so is obviously a very bright fella, yet chose to pursue a career as a -Z list meat head actor instead.
Reading about him, he got into show biz by being Grace Jones boyfriend, after she took a shine to him, whilst moonlighting as part of her security team.
