Finally watched Top Gun last week. A big gap for me as an 80s kid. I honestly dunno why I was never bothered as I've seen any other 80s hit.

Was cheesy as expected and a bit like a long commercial for something. Dunno what. The Army or Coke or something. But it's enjoyable in parts. Then watched Maverick yesterday and it was more of the same but looked great. The action scenes are very impressive. Wouldn't watch again but don't feel I wasted my time.

Also rewatched There Will be Blood, and it was as great as I remember.

15/20 years ago this would have only had nominations for the periphery awards. Standard of mainstream films is very poor.

I very much enjoyed Sinners but prefer train dreams.

Obviously I hope Sinners wins the lot for maximum gammon rage

On my 4th watch of there will be blood, I spent most of it watching Ciaran Hinds brooding background presence. It's a complete masterpiece

Never seen Top Gun either, there's a whole heap of those films I should, for my age, (44) have watched. Back to the future is another one I've never bothered with.

Thought visually in parts it was impressive but was all over the place.
