Last Film You Watched

Mainly Nicolas Cage films.

* I love him by the way.
Have you heard about his upcoming project The unbearable weight of massive talent? It's a meta comedy)action movie where he plays a version of himself. If not here's the plot synopsis. It sounds promising.

Nicolas Cage begrudgingly accepts a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a Mexican billionaire super fan. When things take a wild turn, Nic is forced to become a version of some of his most iconic and beloved characters in order to extricate his wife and daughter from the fan who is a notorious drug lord.

I`ve been following it`s developments with a keen interest.

It sounds like it has all the hallmarks of a Cage classic.

Definitely has the ingredients for a captivating film, and I'm sure you're well aware but even when his films go off the rails they have the capacity to be glorious. At the worst it should be watchable in some degree.
I'm also a sucker for films where actors play versions of themselves like being John Malkovich or this is the end. So I'm amped about it myself.

Never understood why - 'Knowing' got slated so much - great bit of Sci-fi disaster horror

Thought it was a great movie. The plane crash scene was incredible which involved some of the best special effects I've ever seen.

It always reminds me of a funny story involving my dear old Mum & Dad. They were on a month long holiday in Florida celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They saw a clip advertising the film on tv so they decided to go out the following night to watch it. When they were in the queue at the multiplex cinema on Universal Walks they both realised that they couldn't remember the name of the film. All they knew was that it was just a single word title. Then my Mum pointed up to the listings & there it was. Panic over. So they take up their seats but are a little bit confused by the fact that most of the other customers in the cinema are mainly young blokes wearing hoodies & expensive trainers. Must be big Nicholas Cage fans thought my Dad. So the movie starts & it's all rap music which confuses my parents even more. 10 minutes in & still no sign of Nic, just a lot more rap & a lot of bad language. 5 minutes later they decided this film wasn't for them & exited the cinema. Upon leaving the multiplex they decided to look at the listings again. There it was - 'KNOWING' - that's the film they wanted to see. However, the movie they actually went in to see was listed just above it & was titled - 'NOTORIOUS' - which as most people know is about Notorious B.I.G. Even though my Mum & Dad passed away a few years back all the family still have a good laugh at that story when we get together for a few beers.

Out of Sight

Not seen it in years and years.

Decent adaptation of the Elmore Leonard novel. I had totally forgotten that Ray Nicolette ( Michael Keatons character in Jackie Brown) pops up.

For those unfamiliar with the (frankly silly) story a prolific, non-violent bank robber breaks out of jail and then kidnaps a US Marshal in the process. She gets away and the rest of the film is their on/off attraction. (played a young Jennifer Lopez - beautiful)

Loads of other familiar faces in the cast. An easy two hour watch, probably keep the mrs happy enough.

A solid 7.
