Double Impact - 1991
Hong Kong mobsters, murder, long lost twins yada yada, hilarity ensues, take back what's ours, end of second act relationship crisis, big end fight.
Twice the Jean Claude Van-Damme
Bolo Yeung pulling Bolo Yeung faces and twisting necks as the evil henchman
JCVD softcore soft lens lurve scene
Corinna Everson using neck breaker thigh clenches as the evil henchwoman
Geoffrey Lewis being that guy you've definitely seen somewhere else but can't place him
Very final shot of the film being an abrupt freeze frame of JCVD doing an A-OK gesture with cheesy grin pretty much straight at the camera - We don't need no stinking epilogue.
Peak JCVD era stuff. I really enjoy it but it's quite obviously not the peak of artistic endeavour from a film-making point of view. Does what it sets out to do and there's a good few acclaimed directors who could do worse than drop a bit of self-indulgence and take an editing or pacing lesson from this sort of film.
