The Vigil ( on Netflix) )

It’s been quite a while since I’ve watched a horror as effective as this.

A down on his luck young Jewish man, agrees to keep an overnight vigil over the body of a recently departed elderly Jewish man, as per Jewish custom.

What he doesn’t know is that the deceased has a demon attached to him.

Atmospheric, virtually no CGI, ultra creepy, loads of false scares and a cracking performance from the lead.

One to watch by yourself in the dark.

Finally got around to watching Midsommar. Terrific and brilliantly fun film. Some really horrific scenes. But the one thing for me is that having also been conceived in a highly polygynous ritualistic orgy by a father who was later burned alive in a bear suit struck a little too close to home.

Great Performances from all and some Fantastic scenes.

It’s one of those films that could’ve done with an extra 15 mins, so the ending could’ve been really ramped up.

There’s another really good horror based on Jewish custom - the Possession ( 2012 )

A young girl buys a Dybuk Box ( used in Jewish custom to trap and contain evil spirits ) at a yard sale.

Another very creepy film.

Watched this last night after reading your post on here. Top film, and it even had the bonus of getting rid of the other half for a few hours as she cant cope with subtitled films

I have a real fear of heights, when I see this in the cinema I had to walk out for a minute as my head was spinning haha

Have you seen The Dawn Wall? It's about a similar climb at the same place from another climber who is interviewed in Free Solo

Yes I've seen it.
Great film too.. Doesn't surprise me that has same writer.

Try 'Harsh Times' also same writer i think.
