Last Film You Watched

I'm making a "Lockdown List" to tick off over the next few weeks of films I somehow haven't seen yet:

- Monos
- An Elephant Standing Still
- Inland Empire
- Super Dark Times
- Under The Skin
- The Vast of Night
- Mandy
- Beyond The Black Rainbow
- Enter The Void
- Metropolis
- Mulholland Drive
- Nocturnal Animals
Classic film. Fritz Lang was a genius. Just make sure you avoid the bad ‘80s edit

Continuing with my B movie Fest -
Doomsday.

Watches like a full length BBC drama, rather than a film.

Cross between Mad Max and 28 Days.

Bearing in mind it was made in 2008, the premise of the film is scarily true at the moment.

A killer virus infects Glasgow, eventually overrunning Scotland, leading to it being walled off and the population being left to die.

A few decades the virus re surfaces in that London and a team is sent back into Scotland to look for an antidote.

A cracking all British cast, led by the very lovely and honed Rhona Mitra.

Entertaining if you don’t take it seriously.

Save me five minutes of searching - which platform is this on?

Ma Rainey's Black Bottom

Really, really good. Very much a play on film but the performances are brilliant. Very sad to think what Chadwick Boseman could have gone on and achieved. Viola Davis is great as usual. Also, 2 guys from The Wire are in it which always makes me happy.

Super Dark Times was interesting but not that eventful
Under The Skin is one of my favourite films ever - but very Marmite
The Vast of Night was an understated charming little film
Mandy was an overrated horror with a typically loony Cage performance
Enter The Void is typical Gasper Noe crap (Irreversible aside)
Metropolis is a stone cold classic
Mulholland Drive is exceptionally creepy - bloody complicated though!
Found the Vast of the night well worth it, underrated little gem of a low budget film

Mulholland Drive was well acted but very typical of the director David Lynch who specialise in the surreal and unfathomable. You can follow it up to a point and perhaps on a different level rather than too literally. So many things seem incongruous to the main storyline it's as if Lynch was just enjoying himself and couldn't care less.

the empty man. horror/drama. probably half an hour too long but not bad for what it is. its got some mixed reviews but i thought it was decent, worth a watch. 7/10.

also watched the mel brooks classic 'blazing saddles' again recently, still as funny now as then. wouldn't get away with most of that script these days.
