Unashamed rip off John Carpenters Assault on Precinct 13.

VFW - Veterans of Foreign Wars.

A young girl steals a bag full of drugs off some dealers, as revenge for her addict sisters death and holes up in a veterans bar with a handful of old army veterans.

The dealers and their minions lay siege to the bar, as the out numbered and out gunned army vets fight for their lives.

Deliberately made in B movie style, cliched, uber violent, with a great cast - Norm from Cheers !

A must for Carpenter fans.
Watched that a couple of months ago, really enjoyed it simply because it was OTT,you need these type of films now and then

Watched The End of the Tour last night - Jason Segel and Jesse Eisenberg in the true story of a Rolling Stone writer joining author David Foster Wallace on the last leg of his book tour. I was surprised at just how good this was, as there was a big risk it could have fallen flat on its face. Very enjoyable, and quite poignant.

I remember enjoying this much more than I expected to.

A flawed but altogether worthwhile Lovecraft adaptation. Really well made, great fx, strange and trippy in parts. It doesn't pull its punches with some really creepy, grim moments. There's some good nods to Lovecraft lore and homages to classic horror films. The only real let down is Nicolas Cage in an otherwise good cast.

Properly decent cosmic horror, and there ain't many of 'em.

On Prime.

Prospect (2018)
An okayish low-budget (but still good visually) sci-fi that sacrifices good story writing for detailed worldbuilding.
The plot is nothing extraordinary, the characters aren't too special and behave weirdly
girl's dad gets killed in front of her and instead of being sad she goes and dances around her dropship pod and pigging out on rations??
It would be pretty poor if not for the detail in the world; the fictional writen language, the terminology and the many anecdotes in dialogue are all quite creative and adds a charm to it.
I didn't find it gripping or all that entertaining, but to some it might be worth a watch.

You might like Possessor that I mentioned earlier - Also The Endless was an interesting sci-fi horror amalgam

Not seen it but having heard bits and bobs that's what really puts me off. Sorkin has took real life events and real peoples motives and repurposed them and presented it in a way that distorts the truth.

That for me is hugely disrespectful and if people don't know the actual story then this film is going to be their truth.

not a fan of Sorkins dialogue....way too eager to impress with an amazing turn of phrase. Often schmaltzy and cheesy. Couldn’t stick West Wing because of that despite being constantly told I had to love it specifically for his writing

I watched that whole movie without knowing it was him and was complaining about the dialogue during it....was not at all surprised to see his name pop up at the end
