Last Film You Watched

Dirty Harry - I'm an absolute sucker for American cop films from the 60's & 70's that are set smack bang in the middle of a bit of big city sleaze and moral decay. Stuff like Dirty Harry, French Connection and The Friends of Eddie Coyle are just so evocative of a time and place I'd absolutely hate to be in and have more than their fair share of pretty reprehensible characters but it just works so well on film.

Ever seen either Across 110th Street or Blue Collar from 78? I like these film myself, those 2 have been recommended to me, you seen them?

Not seen them but they're both films I keep the occasional eye out for looking for them on TV, Prime or Netflix or the BluRay being decently priced somewhere - especially Across 110th St.

And now like the idiot that I am I remember that I've got a Cinema Paradiso membership I've been paying for and not using and have had 2 films sat in the drawer for 3 months and should send them back and get those 2 sent out....

Wishmaster - Pretty terrible B-movie horror movie. Not very horrific and is from the "golden" age of filmmakers making prominent use of CGI when it really wasn't good enough to do so. Weirdly high amount of cigarette smoking and an absolutely scene stealing bit of product placement for a fizzy drinks company and telephone company in the same shot. Not recommended.

Serpico is the one you're looking for buddy. Assault on precinct 13 the original not the remake is pretty good too

Rio Bravo once again. Discovered this about 3 years ago after loving John Carpenters 'Assault On Precinct 13' and hearing this was the inspiration. Was gripped after one viewing and it's become my all time favourite film. Love every second of it, can't recommend this on enough.

Not bad for a Saturday evening. An ex-pat Irishman takes his Liverpool ceilidh band to an international competition near his home town. Some good and funny lines despite the dodgy scouse accents and, although set in 1965, discussing Kevin Keegan signing for Liverpool. What can you do?
