Last Film You Watched

The lighthouse- incredible film making. Willem Defoe is such a fine actor.
The Deadwood film - a fitting ending to the series. Really well done
Defoe plays old people really well, he has a great face for it, great film.

I watch The Witch earlier inthe week, didnt enjoy that as much, great soundtrack, the dialect I found to hard to follow or possibly distracting, like it was a piss take.

I thought the witch was brilliant. A field in England is pretty good too

Da 5 Bloods - Watched it last night.

One of those strange pictures that doesn't seem to know exactly what it is... Drama, thriller, war film, social commentary...

Very disjointed and uneven in tone, and it lays on the righteous spike Lee rhetoric in buckets, but some nice character moments, gory action and a brilliant scene in a minefield 7/10

Turned it off after 10mins.

The Witch is a very good film - the dialect didn't bother me at all and felt like a 17th Century Puritan settlement - not that I have a clue what that would have sounded like for sure!

A Field In England is superb but if the dialect in The Witch sounds a bit piss takey then there's elements of AFIE that'll definitely irritate. There's a seemingly deliberate stage-like or overtly theatrical delivery to it.

Wishmaster - Pretty terrible B-movie horror movie. Not very horrific and is from the "golden" age of filmmakers making prominent use of CGI when it really wasn't good enough to do so. Weirdly high amount of cigarette smoking and an absolutely scene stealing bit of product placement for a fizzy drinks company and telephone company in the same shot. Not recommended.

Dirty Harry - I'm an absolute sucker for American cop films from the 60's & 70's that are set smack bang in the middle of a bit of big city sleaze and moral decay. Stuff like Dirty Harry, French Connection and The Friends of Eddie Coyle are just so evocative of a time and place I'd absolutely hate to be in and have more than their fair share of pretty reprehensible characters but it just works so well on film.
