This was on Film4 the other night - the Gamber.

I’ve never seen the original, but despite the best efforts of Mark Wahlberg it all felt a bit flat.

Wahlberg plays an lecturer with an insane taste for high stakes gambling, which eventually leads him into big trouble with assorted gangsters.

Despite a great performance from Wahlberg and a great supporting cast, it’s quite forgettable.

Proper crap that film.

Late post from yesterday, but....

Saw Raiders of the Lost Ark was on BBC1 and thought “nah, have seen it 20+ times, won’t bother.”

2 minutes in, and was completely gripped, watched to the end. Incredibly well made movie. Just brilliant.

But noticed a really weird line I’d never really caught before. When Indy meets Marion in the bar, and it’s implied they’ve had a relationship. She says “I was a child, it was wrong and you knew it”. And he says something like “you knew what you were doing”.

Really strange implication to include about the hero in your movie.
I am a huge fan of them all.
What I have noticed is the John Williams music.
He's had the same bit in Indy, Star wars and Jaws.
Same tune.. it's amazing once you twig it.

What a beautiful mess, i think I really liked it. It's a pis take on a pis take on a pis take.

Have honestly considered rewatching. Remember the bafflement upon first time of watching. Which is weird, a post apocalyptic sci fi with the Rock and Timberlake should have been an odds on winner with me

Do you remember Timberlake miming/doing a dance routine to The Killers 'All the Things I Have Done'?

2006 or something, when he was at his peak and he did that. Incredible.

The problem with a rewatch is that it's about 2hr30 long lol

Eff it, haven't much better to do. Will give it another go. And yes, I remember that scene well.

I like Dune, no movie should be insurmountable for me
