It's such a shame that The Simpsons aren't boss anymore.
I've got Disney+ for lockdown and just today I could scroll to Flamin Moes and the Softball Mr burns episode to watch and they are still superb.
flawless cinema
Watched that AGAIN the other night. Why have I just wasted nearly 2 hrs watching The rise of the foot soldier 4.

How many times do you reckon the c... word was said.Watched that AGAIN the other night.
Guilty pleasure those type of movies.
God I hated that film - Truly proved that Donnie Darko was a fluke for Richard Kelly
Favorite film of all time. It's also the subtle bits that I always find hard to articulate; obviously the distinctive score, but also i.e. the grey palettes that help you really feel the grey winter-time Berlin / Moscow settings. There definitely a fine art to giving a movie that extra depth, but when you combine it with everything you mentioned plus the dialed back "action", it's into 10/10 territory for me.
I thought 'The International' did a lot of this well too, but doesn't get much love on IMDB.
The same mate. It was pure escapism from the CV-19 newsLate post from yesterday, but....
Saw Raiders of the Lost Ark was on BBC1 and thought “nah, have seen it 20+ times, won’t bother.”
2 minutes in, and was completely gripped, watched to the end. Incredibly well made movie. Just brilliant.
But noticed a really weird line I’d never really caught before. When Indy meets Marion in the bar, and it’s implied they’ve had a relationship. She says “I was a child, it was wrong and you knew it”. And he says something like “you knew what you were doing”.
Really strange implication to include about the hero in your movie.

It’s a perfect movie. Script, direction, performance, score. Holds up so well.
The greased up Nazi is deffo on a register.

She would have been 15/16 and Indy about 10 years older. Given the period setting of the movie being the 1930's and even when it was made in 1981, this wouldn't have raised any eyebrows at the time. Look at Bill Wyman and Mandy Smith for instance, it was controversial of course, but more because he was 34 years older and she was 13 at the time.
Of course no way would they do that now to a character who is supposed to be a hero and in a way it is surprising they haven't edited it out. They are hoping the watchers will think 18/19, as the older you get you see that age as being a child, but of course you would have argued the other when you were that age.
