Last Film You Watched

@jaycee

Watched - the Girl on the Third Floor last night.

Reminded me very much of Wes Craven`s - the People Under the Stairs. ( from which I think it borrows quite a lot ).

It`s a bit of a strange film, as initially it`s not very good and struggles to hold your attention, but once it gets going in the final third it becomes a very effective horror film.

DM Punk doesn`t do a bad job either in his first lead role as an actor, after switching form MMA.
Never heard of CM Punk before - but then I haven't seen the wrassling since the days of Kendo Nagasaki.

But I will have a look at this one, especially as I think The People Under the Stairs is a great (and massively underrated) film.

45 years (2015)

makes you question issues like getting old, all those strong marriages and so on. I felt a bit sorry for the old folks and envied them at the same time. Overall, a nice story. 7/10

My very nice 4K steelbook of Parasite arrived the other day, so I gave it a spin - Mrs Daz1878 hadn't seen it before, and she really liked it. Not sure if it stands up quite as well on a second viewing, which is probably to be expected given
the surprise revelation of the man in the basement,
but I certainly enjoyed seeing it again.

Wife sat the family down to watch pursuit of happyness.. admittedly it’s heavy going for the offspring but hopefully the message struck a cord

The Invisible Man

Surprised by the (mostly) positive reviews it's been receiving - It's a reasonably entertaining thriller at best

I think Blumhouse is the worst thing that ever happened to horror - Just churn out average template films consistently

When did horror films stop being scary?

I had the same discussion about horror films with my mate the other night in the pub.

The last decent proper scary film for me was Sinister.

Imo the problem is that every genre has been done to death and with the access to the interweb, kids have become desensitised to what we`d have classed as " scary " in days gone by. So studios won`t take a risk on anything new for the fear of it tanking at the box office.

The next proper scary film will probably come from abroad and be subtitled.
