Last Film You Watched

Watched the film"Just mercy" .
I have been accused of racism although they actually meant colour prejudice, the person didn't know my first wife was of African decent ,her father was from Sierra Leone .
I now realise that in fact I very well might be racist because if the USA is the greatest country on earth ( their words not mine ) then may be I am .How any country can treat other people like they have in the past just leaves me absolutely raging . I pride myself on trying to see both sides but I cannot find "the other side " to even consider it .
Thought the leading roles were well played and had tears in my eyes for belated justice at the end .
Very powerful film that, seen it in the cinema, agree its very emotional at the end. Important story that should be known

Kursk ( on Netflix)

I really wanted to like this film, but it all felt a bit flat.

Some great performances from the mainly foreign cast and the film truthfully follows the tragedy as it unfolds, debunking a few things on the way - in particular the belief that the Russian Navy left them to die. They were overruled by the Kremlin.

Imo the film doesn’t do justice to the sailors, as it hops about from the sailors, their families and the Kremlin.

Hostiles - cracking Western noir, with Christian Bale and a great supporting cast. ( on Netflix )

Bale plays an American army captain in the mid West, who is tasked with escorting a Native American Chief who is dying of cancer and his family from an army stockade, back to his tribal lands so that he can die there.

The film follows their journey and all that comes with it, but also touches on the effects of PTSD, depression and racism.

It’s a real “ thinking “ film, beautifully filmed, slow, dark and brooding, with Bale putting in an outstanding performance. ( up there with his best )

It’s 2hrs 15 mins long and could’ve easily done with another 45 mins.

Highly recommended if you like Westerns.

Proper brutal start to it if I remember right

My son is currently into watching James Bond, so this afteroon we watched On Her Majesty's Secret Service (OHMSS) instead of the rugby.

I've always liked it and never really understood the criticism it received compared to some of the others, but the more I watch it the more I feel it's one of the best.

For storyline it's definitely one of the very best.

Not seen it but the real story must have been horrific :(

Great. Makes a lawyer taking on a chemical company a lot more entertaining than you may think.

Nice touch putting a few of the real life people in as extras.

There was a Storyville on BBC 4 about this scandal a while back.

Horrendous and especially more so is the fact that Du Punt have quite literally knowingly poisoned the whole of the world with Teflon residue and have been allowed to carry on under a different company name.

Thanks, I'll have a look for that.

Yeah, it's nuts. It said at the end the chemical is in 99% of humans now.

Pretty much the whole town was against him (DuPont was the main employer)and the government.
