Last Film You Watched

The Prodigal Son. It's a rather strange old kung fu movie/musical/comedy but the fight scenes in it are just amazing. I do love a good kung fu film and i actually prefer watching them without the stupid western dubbing on them.

Magnificent film, much in the style of Clint Eastwood’s - Unforgiven.

Directed and starring Tommy Lee Jones, with a stellar supporting cast.

Tommy Lee Jones and Hilary Swank, have to transport three young women who have become mentally ill, due to their bleak unforgiving frontier lifestyle, across the prairie to the nearest big town.

Beautifully acted and filmed. Bleak and hard to watch in parts due to the content.

It’s like an “ anti Wild West “ film, that shows it how it really was.

Won’t be for everyone, as it’s really slow and thoughtful.

I know this film, my brother has a martial art school where they teach the style in it, he reckons from a technical point of view its fantastic. Sammo Hung is really funny, i love his comedy films like Winners and Sinners

Im a student of Wing Chun myself, although i have only being studying it for just over 3 years and whilst i know most of the attacks my speed is nowhere near the level of Lam Ching Ying who plays Ye Tie in the film, his Wing Chun is by far the best on screen example you will see, it's a shame he died so young and only made a few movies as he was an incredible fighter and also he was Bruce Lee's PA

Yeah, I really want to see this. Unforgiven is my favorite western.

You Were Never Really Here (2017)

Absolutely stunning movie, loved it. Every scene was filmed beautifully, the cinematograpy work is top notch. Intense soundtrack. What a great filmmaking by the Scottish director. This won't be box office gold as it is a product of Independent cinema, people who apreciate Lynne Ramsay's style (me included) will continue to keep an eye on her.

Very good reviews, but I think it got a very limited release, due to being an indie

made no sense to me

Watched Kes the other evening at the BFI As @atrottel can attest, I'm not a huge fan of Ken Loach, so it didn't resonate at all. Just seemed to be 'life is [Poor language removed], will always remain [Poor language removed], so resign yourself to it being [Poor language removed]'.

Bit of a rubbish attitude to life that.
Depends on which life you drew in the raffle, 'nice' lives tend to be...nice
Saw it when it came out
'Realistic family drama that is one of the key british films of the period'...(? on that but hey ho)
2 stars say Halliwell's
me too.
But still each to his own

I guess I don't regard life as being predetermined from birth so it didn't resonate, but that's probably a discussion for another thread.
