Frances McDormand can play one or two character types better than anyone else on the planet, Streep can play a whole spectrum of characters better than most people can. It is very subjective but imho that makes Streep the better actor to be able to vary the roles and do them so successfully.

I disagree. She's incredibly versatile and commanding with comedy as well as drama. I'm lucky to have seen her on Broadway once and she was phenomenal. No matter what the part, she makes the character three-dimensional. Being a woman (and now an older woman) she's often cast as a mother because that is how Hollywood sees women. But just look at how she plays them.

I'm not calling Streep wildly overrated or anything - she is brilliant, aside from the odd stinker that she sleepwalks through. I just prefer McDormand.

Just watched Living Dead At Manchester Morgue, pretty funny, ive stopped at the petrol station from the start but its all modern now and looks nothing like in the film, which is a shame, ive aso been the stones on the river in the Peak District haha

I agree she can do comedy and drama and like you say it is definitely three dimensional but they always seem to be the same tough, outspoken character, albeit with a vulnerability about them. Now that maybe because the roles she chooses, or because the writers specifically write the parts with her in mind. I think these characters are close to the person she is in real life and that is why she performs them with such aplomb. If you take some of those attributes away from her I just don't think it would make her stand out in the same way.

But as I mentioned before best/favourite actress (or anything for that matter) is all subjective. Don't get me wrong Frances is brilliant in most things I have seen her in, but for the reasons above (maybe unfairly) I see her a step under.

I think there`s a degree of poetic licence to a certain extent with his age mate, as it just wouldn`t work if he was in his eighties.

With regards to Rachel, it will become much clearer once you`ve watched 2049.

I feared the worse with 2049 mate, but if they`d put a Vangelis soundtrack with it, it`d be every bit as good as the original.

2049 is a magnificent film mate and if you can watch it by yourself, as it works better with full attention.
I'll wait till mrs degsy has gone to bed then...jibber jabber, jibber jabber, whos he, whys he doing that, etc.

Watched this last night on Film4 - Totally bonkers, but very effective horror.
Two bank robbers take a female customer hostage, during their getaway in a remote American town. Ending up off the beaten track up in the hills, where a psycho has set up home and does very bad things to anyone who strays onto his land. Tips a nod to films like, the Hills Have Eyes, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre etc.
It starts off like B movie, but stick with it, as it really gets going after about 30 mins and becomes very disturbing

Watched Passengers.
Why didn't he drug her in her sleep and freeze her at the end?
Or
Supposedly there was a replacement everything on the ship so there'd be a replacement med bay thing. Hook it up, bingo two people issue solved. Need someone to press the button, get the bartender to do it.

Ending seemed a bit weak, I love my wife more than anything but spending the rest of my life with just her sounds horrible :D
