Typically Del-Toro-esque - Visually very striking (with more than a hint of Amelie I thought) - Story a little weak but excellent performances and moves along at a decent clip

An oldie from 82 called Remembrance, about 5 navy lads on their last night of freedom ahead of a tour, centres around one lad who gets a clipping off a bouncer after a few too many.

Enjoyed it, good show.

Read the book mate, the film doesn’t do it justice.

If they were faithful to the book, it wouldn’t have got a cert, as some of the stuff he endured was off the scale.

It is mate, it’s an outstanding book.

The bit where they are adrift at sea is massively downplayed for time purposes in the film, as are the conditions and torture in the camps.

He is bang on regarding this recommendation. Read the book, think for a few minutes how one of us might come out of the same experiences, and be thankful that we don't have to.

Honestly watching the film makes you question how one man can survive that brutality... I guess the book is really more graphically expressive. . And the reality..it's totally incomprehensible
