Last Film You Watched

Still debating it with my son - good acting yes - story pants -setting the Deep South of the USA mentioned in it was the bias of how the police treated coloured people, yet on 3 coloured people ever seen the whole film, to say it's a black comedy is rubbish as it's a poor Coen brothers rip off !
THREE BILLBOARDS - dominates the film imo!
Poor story, corn beef, - poor ending equals disappointing with a star cast?
It has great ratings - My son and I are big Coen Brothers fans this falls way short not in time as it's 2 hours long!
Drivil!

The film has nothing to do with racism or colour Joe. It’s never been marketed as a “black comedy” at all.

It’s about a mother’s frustration at the lack of progress by the police department in finding her daughters killer. She utilises the billboards to portray her message

Some stated it was a black comedy - how much of that film is about the murder/ rape the file never gets opened once?
The ending pathetic!
Imo 175 percent of that film revolves around 3 billboards - the other pathetic point was the daughters grave crime scene the grass still dead in a shape 18 months after the terrible event!

What crazy maths is this

Kicked off the 2018 #100newfilms list with a double bill yesterday:

1) Beauty and the Beast (2017) - really pretty dull, was never a huge fan of the Disney original - but given how good the 'live action' Jungle Book remake was we watched this with the kids yesterday morning. It's a bit of a CGI clunkfest. Excellent performance aside from Luke Evans it was a touch disappointing.

2) Bright (2017) - Ah... the magic of Netflix. Despite something getting a critical panning it's just there and you can always 'have a quick look'. Glad I did. Despite not taking full advantage of the depths of the mystical crossover world and despite some fairly obvious tells as to how it would pan out, I found it an interesting modern take on culture, racism and its impact on all parties.

Bright was a half decent made for TV film, with a decent cast.

Will Smith played the same part he always does in films like this, plus it borrowed loads from films like Lethal Weapon.

My take on the racism thing, was that it was more about the way society treats those that are at the lower end of the food chain, rather than their race.
