Current Affairs Labour and Anti Semitism.......

What about the MPs that have suffered anti semitism and complained that the leadership needs to do more?

It depends - if they are complaining Corbyn could have done more to speak out about it then they have a point.

If they are complaining that he should have thrown people out then they don't; they know how the Labour Party works and in any case the last thing they want is to give Corbyn the power to arbitrarily remove members (or worse, MPs) because of things they have said and done. It should also be pointed out that the body that does have the power to remove / discipline members (the NEC) was in the hands of the anti-Corbyn faction until earlier this year (which is the point that McCluskey made when he talked about where the backlog of cases has come from).

Corbyn will be accused of not taking this anti semitism seriously. Unfortunately, for him the hand gestures will be misconstrued no doubt by the likes of Mann and Seeting.

That was in 2013. Why wasn't that mentioned in parliament last week by those debating anti Semitism?

Because as it said, it was five years ago, the Conservative party suspended the guy and launched an investigation. Unlike Labour which tends to ignore it......

Evidence that Labour is ignoring anti semitism?

Why do you think the Tories didn't suspend George C Stoakley in 2013? Is it because the Tories ignore anti semitism? As they ignored Rees Mogg sharing a platform with known anti semitites, who want to repatriate black Britons 'back to where they come from'. Do you mean that sort of ignore?

Or is it this sort of ignore about people in their ranks?

Why didnt Corbyn ask about it?

Maybe he assumed that the person was no longer in the Tory party. Wrong as it turned out, as he was only suspended yesterday. The Tories have allowed this man to go around for 6 years saying things, in reference to Jewish people hiding in attics, to keep themselves out of the clutches of Nazis.

Don’t think it’s correct or right for a leader of political party to be directly attacking someone so low down in a opposition political party, there are protocols to follow. Maybe it’s a Tory thing, kicking the little people, be they horrible gobby ones at that.

QT last night, Lucas bang on the money about Israel and the distinction between criticising its state actions is not Anti-Semitic, and politicking that is cheapening Anti-Semitism. Indeed particularly enjoyed when audience member made the point that attacking the racist, right-wing Israeli government isn't Anti-Semitism.

Indeed, attacking the Israeli government is not anti-semitism and is not racist, and I personally think they are a disgrace, just like attacking the Russian government is not racist. It’s an attack on what they do not what they are. Anti-semitism in the U.K. is about attacking individuals for being who they are, and not necessarily what they have done. I find it incredible that Labour are finding it so difficult to admit this and get past this issue, but then again the only defence I see on here is by attacking the Tories and whataboutary, so maybe it’s understandable.......

Absolutely agree, recently I have observed criticism of Saudi Arabia (justified in my opinion) and its war in Yemen. Who screamed Islamophobia ?

Answer is no one because it isn’t so why the hypocrisy about the Israeli government and it’s decision to shoot unarmed protesters using snipers ?

Criticism of the Israeli government policies towards Palestinians should never be conflated with Anti-semitism as it detracts from real Anti semitism
