“Jeremy Corbyn’s hopes of repairing relations with the Jewish community have suffered a blow after Jewish leaders labelled a key meeting with the Labour leader over antisemitism a “disappointing missed opportunity” with little achieved.

In a joint statement the heads of the Jewish Leadership Council (JLC) and Board of Deputies (BoD) said Corbyn had failed to agree to any of their demands aiming to combat antisemitism within Labour.

“Words in letters and newspaper articles will never be enough,” Jonathan Goldstein and Jonathan Arkush said in a joint letter following a two hour meeting with Corbyn and others from the Labour party, including general secretary Jennie Formby.

“We welcome the fact that Mr Corbyn’s words have changed but it is action by which the Jewish community will judge him and the Labour party.”

Ruth Smeeth was allegedly leaking stories to journalists at The Telegraph. It has literally nothing to do with her being Jewish and everything to do with her attempts to undermine the party.

Also, posting Dan Hodges tweets like they count for something? Really?

I’m not sure that the Tory party have any influence upon all the anti-semites within the Labour Party so it would be a waste of time...........

Hodges must have something going for him - I can't think of a commentator who has been so consistently wrong on every major (and minor) issues of the day as him - including calling someone a "useful Jewish idiot" a while back.

The Labour party doesn't 'have a problem' with anti semitism, as implied by the kangaroo court in parliament last week, that has been designed to stifle debate about Israel. As the co-chair of Jewish voice for Labour said yesterday, 'people are scared to talk about Israel because they will be called an anti semite'. And it is working at the moment. People are scared to raise the issue of what the IDF are doing on the Gaza border, shooting and killing protesters, for instance.

Your absolutely spot on mate, but for some reason Islamophobia seems to be acceptable to the press in this country.

Racism, bigotry, xenophobia or homophobia should be treated exactly the same but publications like the Daily Fail and others papers we shall not name but owned by a certain Rupert Murdock show hypocrisy in this matter.
