Current Affairs Labour and Anti Semitism.......

Given the fact that we're a party comprised of > 600,000 members, it's going to be a given that one or two cranks get involved. I've been a member since Blair, and the cranks to ordinary people ratio them days ways significantly higher than it is today.

Anti-Semitism is a cancer, and I welcome the NEC's to accept the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism.

What is empowering these "one or two cranks" to get involved in the upper echelons of the Labour party though (MPs, prospective candidates, counsellors, NEC etc) though? I kinda understand the argument for bad eggs in a pool of that size at the lower levels, but these people are moving up Labour ranks - this is when their cancerous views become widespread.

The fact that the latest polls had the Tories 4 points ahead is alarming. How can that shower of imbeciles be ahead?

Oh I forgot, Corbyn is useless and wet when it comes to sorting out the anti semitism row.

The latest poll is for ICM and it shows a 1 point Labour lead.

Ha ha ha. A fascist like Netanyahu who's just officially declared apartheid in Israel calling anyone out on anything is pretty hilarious.

Feather in the cap of Corbyn that one.

Trump, Netanyahu and that Hungarian President are probably the three best people to be condemend by in global politics.

Labour's one point poll lead should be up to 3/4 next time.

It is highly contentious - I agree and I guess that is the secrecy of Mossad in a nutshell. But with this and his links to Rome; Bseiso is not someone that can be honoured - or included in the same sentence as the victims of Tunis as Corbyn did in his Morning Star article. Just my opinion.

Perhaps, but then again they were all people killed on the orders of (and by) another government.

Whether Bseiso - or anyone else - deserved it we will never know.

Just imagine being leader of the opposition at this time while the Tories are imploding all over the shop, he must feel like he has one hand on the PM job. All you have to do is instruct your party not to do silly things; no affairs with unsuitable sorts, don't discriminate, don't steal public funds, don't get caught taking drugs and whatever you do, don't have your picture taken at a ceremony that honours terrorists - especially ones that have targeted Jews (as we have a bit of an 'image' issue with that at the moment).

But of course it is difficult trying to control the actions of hundreds of people, all you can do is lead by example and hope that the party follow suit...

Picture was taken in 2014 I believe?

So ask yourself why is this being brought up now, during the aforementioned Tory implosion.

It's almost as if there's a concerted effort to portray the opposition leader, who believes in curtailing the maddening separation in wealth between the richest and the poorest through redistribution of wealth, negatively in order to undermine the electorate.

Or something.

The BBCs idea of balanced political reporting is:

2/3 days coverage of mild rumination on the proposition that the Tories are infested with Islamophobia

2/3 months of handing Corbyn's political enemies free rein to accuse him of every crime against Jews they care to make up.

I did see that it was an older picture, however because of his stance on the whole subject he has left himself open to this problem. Unfortunately what you have done in the past (& this is very recent in the scheme of things) is fair game and he chooses not to distance himself from it all for compromising his wider beliefs. All very noble but if in the end he let's the Tories win another election then he is not providing the social justice for the lives of the people he can make a difference to.

Whilst President Orban and Corbyn lead the only two political parties in Europe that have openly rejected the IHRA definition of anti-semitism. Feather in the cap for Corbyn that one.

Corbyn hasn’t rejected the IHRA definition (only some examples, and even they have been adopted using a different phrasing) - and the point you raise about Organ is interesting because of course Netanyahu is very friendly with him despite his comments and past associations.

I dispute that the examples have been adopted using different phrasing.

The NEC code is a watered down of the IHRA. Before you even look at the omissions, the included rephrasing includes it being no longer anti-Semitic for British Jews to be accused of having a higher allegiance to Israel than the UK as per IHRA, instead it is just “wrong to accuse Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interests of their own nations.” Not anti Semitic - just wrong. The impact of this is obvious.

Agreed the Orban-Netanyahu friendship is interesting and to my mind is best understood as realpolitik by Netanyahu. Hungary is an entrance into influencing the EU bloc for Netanyahu.

More Corbyn wreath laying outrage-

The Labour leader will be in Prague in the morning addressing European centre-left leaders, and will afterwards make the journey to Terezín, around an hour’s drive away.

The camp, a former fortress, was adapted by the Nazis into a Jewish ghetto in 1941, later becoming a concentration camp. Thousands of Jews died in inhumane conditions there or were transported to death camps.

Ahead of the visit, Mr Corbyn said the world should never forget the genocide that occurred at the camp and the dangers that “far-right politics, antisemitism and racist scapegoating pose to society”.

Interesting isn't it? Nothing against him going there or 'owt, but there's seldom any mention of the Roma who were also inturned in these camps before their extermination. Given that, unlike Jewish folk, they are still widely discriminated against, not least in Czech by the current far-right president, you would hope that Corbyn, being a man who champions the course of the unrepresented, will use the visit as an opportunity to do something.
