Kyle Naughton

Methinks we should start looking elsewhere, this Naughton business is making us look a bit of a laughing stock.

For the future have no dealings with SU.

No source, just a faith in what we stand for as a club. If he chooses not to then he'll join the ranks of Scott Parkers that were never good enough for us anyway. We behave with integrity, if others choose not to then that's their choice.

You are putting a lot of faith into a 20 year old boy who will have his agent pushing him to go to the club that pays the most wages.

Isn't that Kyle Walker a RB as well, don't understand why they would buy 2 up & coming right backs for 11m when they can only play one, plus they already have Hutton, Corluka etc. etc.

One of my friends is a Spurs fan and we were talking about the same thing last night. From what he's read/heard from other people is that they'll be looking to use Naughton as a LB since that is the side they need to improve. Both of us think that is the worst idea ever. I think it's just another team trying to snub us out of a deal for no reason other than not letting us get any better.

Not at all. I'm putting faith in that if he's that kind of man then we're better off without him. The club is where it is because we have the best team spirit in English football. If players are foolish enough to not want part of that then good luck to them. There's a littany of players turning us down for greater money elsewhere and their career failing badly.

Hes only a young lad. If he gets his head turned by the bright lights of London and Harry talking the talk, its hardly a sign that hes not an "Everton player".

But your right, the amount of players that turn us down is getting bigger and I cant say any of them have ever gone onto bigger and better things.

I dont think Leeds or Hamburg would think we behave with integrity.

Go on then, I'm bite:

What is so bad about signing a player who we were legally entitled to offer contract to, with the fee to be decided by a tribunal that exists precisely for the purpose of deciding an appropriate fee for players who were signed without a professional contract? I mean, it can't be that immoral if there's a central body designed for that purpose.

It's hardly the same thing as accepting an offer and then going back on an agreement, is it?

By the way, I'm still very doubtful that Sheff Utd have done this, as it flies in the face of everything I know about contract law (as somebody else explained earlier). More likely that Sheff Utd haven't done this, but rather they are just trying to push the player towards Spurs (who made a better offer), IMO, and the press have embellished.

Good point.

I'm not saying SU aren't bastards, they clearly are, but we're no angels either.

I wonder how many Everton fans would object if the club accepted a bid from City for £20m, but then reneaged on that if Chelsea came sniffing?

It's a dirty business.

Lordy, you're talking law, the other lad is talking about moral behaviour. You can't claim that Hamburg and Leeds might not have the right to feel a little bit pissed off with Everton for poaching their young talent, after all the effort they put into their development.

Just as well we got Jags in time then!

We did sell them Beattie & Naysmith that summer for 1m more than we paid for Jagielka.

I'd be pretty pissed with how that turned out for all parties as well!...

Optimistically, I've been reading lots of things on other forums (Spurs & Sheff Utd ones) that Naughton's put his foot down about a move to Goodison...

Pessimistically, he'll go for the higher wages, but at least we'll then be able to grab Hutton for less.

A bit like losing a tenner and finding 50p though

if the kid has a good head on his shoulders he will come to us but we all know money ******* talks why hes gonna go to shitty spurs when the likes of all the other young full backs get swerved by fozzy bear [harry halfasleep redknapp]
