And guys...who said that Rooney was finished! I am telling you he has been very good for us on this preseason...united might regret having letting him go...I think he still has a season or 2 left in the tank

I said this in the Dowell thread. Has a quality left foot and can spot a pass or score a brilliant goal but he needs to be a bit more something.........involved/agressive/pacy. I cant quite put my finger on it but reckon he will be one of them MOTD players. Hope he proves me wrong.
I'm certainly not going to judge his career on one half of a pre-season friendly, but haven't seen anything today to make me think he is a valuable squad member

I thought Dowell was trying hard and definitely looks like he could succeed. But at this moment in time, with the continued absence of Barkley, we need a experienced playmaker in that position with Dowell learning his trade as back up.

That ball by Sandro was excellent. Was expecting a hit and hope cross but that seemed measured. Pickford had some run of the mill saves, Klaassen is busy but doesn't seem up to speed yet in mind but will come. Rooney showing some genuine class but also some slow moments. Sandro is working hard trying to find space to exploit, had a few loose touches but I think will be a great signing and win loads of free kicks. Schnides steady as always, Gana here there and everywhere, Dowell working hard and showing some good touches and some poor touches. Defence looking reasonably solid. Think 2nd half might see Lookman or Mirallas thrown on to try and open them up a bit more.

They look sharper but it's no surprise considering their season starts next week.

We've done okay. A few bright moments and Sandro has done really well.

His cross was great and Rooney's finish superb.

Rooney has to be central for me though. He's wasted out wide. Give Sandro a free role off him.

Dowell hasn't really got into it, and that's what's missing from his game at the moment.

Agree Toff, was one of the main reasons he went off the boil with the Mancs.

Half time thoughts.

Not bad, very good goal.

There's still work to do on working the ball out from the back, Keane got frustrated at one point and picked out Sandro with a lovely run which was nice. There's a lot of new players in the team right now and they are still figuring out where everyone is on the pitch. I've seen Baines and Klaasen make runs that were not seen a good couple of times as well as a few loose touches while we work on our fitness but it all looks very promising.

Sandro looks to have just a little bit of everything about him. He'll press all day and come deep to receive the ball while also sometimes playing off of the shoulder for the run. At the end of the half I saw him challenge for a header and he surprised me with the leap he had on him. He's going to be feisty. He let off a decent shot on target from long range but the ball he just put in at the end of the half was just lovely. I think he has been coming a bit too deep because he wants to get on the ball and impress. He's had a few loose touches but so has everyone as they work on fitness, but I can't wait for it to click because him, Rooney, and Klaassen have all been at it and it will be pyar Sexy FC.

I thought Holgate has done well today. Dowell has been a bit quiet but its nice to see him get the start after 2 good goals. Schneiderlin, Gueye, and Klaassen still have work to do on their understanding regarding tracking players running at them. I think Gueye has really suffered from Schneiderlin's inclusion in the team because it changes his role, especially when they play in a 3 with either Klaassen or Davies. He wasn't as effective in the second half of the season and I think if any of the 3 are going to lose their starting spots it could very well be him.

Baines is going to be quietly steaming(because he's too quiet to kick off) about the amount of times he was free in space on the left that half and just completely ignored.
