KIRKBY MOVE REJECTED

Have to say no matter what many may feel, a shared stadium will not IMO happen too many imponderables. Where do you put the Shankly gates and their stautes and where do you put ours? Will the turf stand up to all those games, more than twice a week.

Essentially there is no will on the LFC side for a stadium share.

Lets be fair though theres no cash on the LFC side for a stadium either, but i agree the clubs will bumble on and hope they get a new ground in the next 20 years or so.

[Poor language removed] news, should be more concered about our on the pitch antics at the moment rather than all the politics off it!

Talk of a reduced retail plan will be passed but whether this is to include Everton I do not know.

As far as I am concerned to be perfectly frank, honest and reasonable I would like Everton to walk away from this and await whatever the future will hold and bring.

I hope BK sticks to his word that the Kirkby chapter is closed. This whole issue has been far too devisive amongst our fan base.

Not a chance Everton are back in on that. IMO, even the 'fast track' regeneration promise is bullshit. "Doing the utmost" and "endeavouring" is the language of the bullshitter.

People in Kirkby should be calling for Howarth's and especially the councillor's, heads on a plate for wasting their time and money.

Exactly Dave and you know who the bullshitter is ---- Mandelson.

Yeah, deffo. He's shovelling [Poor language removed] onto the underlings who placed some sort of trust in the Government getting DK through on a nod and a wink. That's the laughable thing about it - the MP and council officials are outraged that their own outrageous plan didn't come off. They were made for each other. They're all as bent as a nine bob note.

Yes, if Keioc can "fix the course for our future", so that we have a new home which makes us some real money before we're relagated or left as an also ran that would be nice.

Anyway, no doubt any crap will do them, so long as its in the city boundary. Small time.

Better than crap outside the city boundaries....beggars cant be choosers

There's an awful lot of lashing out going on in this thread. Once and for all:

Kirkby was never going to happen, it wasn't deliverable legally.

We don't currently have an alternative proposal because the board has spent the last three years with all of its eggs in the Kirkby basket, rejecting and rebuffing any potential alternative.

It is nobody but the Board's responsibility to bring forward an alternative, although many have tried.

You can blame who you like, but we are in this position because the board pushed on with an option that could never be delivered to the exclusion of everything else. It is nobody else's fault, not KEIOCs, not even Davek's.. they were warned, they chose to carry on, and now we all have to deal with where that's left us, preferably together

Such as?

That logic always makes me cringe, you would swear Kirkby was the first and only site the club had looked at. Lets not forget a new ground has been at the top of the agenda for 15+ years.

Yep, and we had a great solution in King's Dock - cheaper than Kirkby and a whole lot more appetising, but the chairman didn't fancy loosening his grip on the reins.

Then, Terry had his chat on the train with Bill, effectively saying, leave it all to me and I'll sort it for you (the easy option), years later and this is where we are.

For all of the derision heaped upon it, the Loop was clearly a good enough prospect for Bestway to spend seven figures in viability studies including bringing HOK Sports on board to demonstrate the potential for a 55,000 seater stadium. This wasn't some cock-eyed lash up from KEIOC, this was a private company prepared to spend a lot of their own money to come forward with a proposal.

EFC's response? "55,000? Actually, we need a site that can accommodate 75,000"
Kirkby Stadium Capacity? 50,401 - with the threat of a 10k reduction should draconian 'mode of transport' criteria not be met within 2 years.

There was some great work done by Tom Hughes and Trevor Skempton around what could be done with GP. At the time, KSS - consultants on the DK Stadium were wheeled out to try and pick fault with it, suggesting that the current footprint could only accommodate a 36,000 seat stadium - conveniently ignoring what was a blatant hint from LCC at the time about the area being about to lose a school, and that the one on our doorstep could be it (nudge, nudge).

These approaches were made in spite of the Club's highly publicised exclusivity deal. A deal which quite clearly slammed the door on any alternative and forced the Board's hand when any alternative was presented.

I'm amazed Bestway went as far as they did for us. In their position, I certainly wouldn't have spent all of that cash in putting a proposal together until I knew I was going to be given at least the time of day; and once they had been treated so shabbily there was no way on God's earth anyone else would be putting their hard earned on the line.

This is all old news, I'm surprised it's still viewed as at all contentious.
