There's no benefit to lauding and overhyping an 18 year old.
Except maybe building up his confidence, inspiring younger players who play alongside him and also being an advert for our youth system?

Just saying what everyone is thinking.Uh oh, you've poked a hornets nest there!!
utd give their young academy stars a go in first team to show what they can do, we just talk about it.

It's amazing to contrast our support with supporters of other clubs on this matter
Chelsea fans openly clamour to see more of the kids get a chance
We just can't wait to stick the boot in
It's a shame
I hope Dowell gets a fair crack of the whip when he finally gets a chance in the senior set up
I understand your reservations about hyping a player too much but not every young player is the same. Some might crack under the pressure and others might relish it. You kinda have to take each case as individual as opposed to generalizing all young players and how they respond to situations.Do you track all Premier League club digital activity?
I do, part of my day job.
As an example - 3 Facebook updates to Dowell alone in the past 24 hours. You will not find another Premier League Football Club who posted 3 Facebook Updates on a single player in the U21s in under 24 hours.
Excessive.
Conspiracy? Behave.
Ineptitude, with I suspect, an effort to peddle content that doesn't invite negative sentiment. There's a reason why there's no Martinez post match comments on Facebook... Last 10 Facebook updates;

I'll leave it at this;
There's no benefit to lauding and overhyping an 18 year old - it inevitably increases expectation.
What level do we expect him to be loaned at next year? With him being 18 is the Championship too much of an ask? Or would letting him dominate in a slower/lower division be better?
Mikey, how old was Rooney for his first game? Did he go out on loan? At what age was when he played his first England game?
No better advert than just putting him in the team when he is ready.
How many top managers and other top football clubs hype an 18 year old, currently in their u21s? - Like we are here?
Anyone?
Probably a reason for that.

Rooney's a bit of an outlier though. Not really fair to this kid to put similar expectations on him.
There's a significant call/expectation from fans now for him to be involved in the last few games. If so, every chance he'll be in the squad next season.
Play him, and drop Cleverley into the false barista role.
