We should be getting a new deal sorted for him soon if we plan on keeping him. Not really keen on him having a few good games and then the press going nutty about how he is available on a free at the end of the year

Exactly, Zidane was regarded as someone who drifted in and out of games. In Euro 96 - when he was 24, not a youngster - the consensus was he was nothing special.

De Bruyne was playing for Gent at 20, and not even a regular.

We seem to have this thing that you have to be holding down a first team spot at 18 to be any good. Be patient, he has shown glimpses of being something special.
 
Seems to be playing within himself.

It’s a lot for a young player to perform in front of a new manager and play in a key role.

I hope he gets given chances this season as he is clearly quality but definitely needs to strengthen if he wants to succeed in the premier league.

Another loan benefits no one unless it’s to a premier club and we offer him a new contract.

And all these top scouts who all know exactly how he should develope....prop all experts while working in a factory on £250 a week.

The lad is a kid, not many lads under 21 are domination games from the middle, takes time to develop thay game knowledge.
 
Not exactly taken his chance but not exactly looked massively out of place. The OS put up another article where he talks about the faith Silva gives young players and how he is in training sessions. Not that it's anything definitive but I'd say he's going to stay this season.

Yes mate, I think this is the club letting us know that Dowell is going to be involved this coming season. They must, I would think, be about to offer him a new contract which will give him the time to become the player we would all love him to become. Only time will tell....
 
People are way way way too harsh on the younger lads here. Not saying Pennington will become Beckenbauer but people like Dowell we've rarely seen and he did work at Forest then fell off apparently.
