With both in the squad I think we were stronger. They are good rotation players. If we want to achieve something we need 2 teams in the squad as the high number of games going to come. I don't believe some of the back-up can do better jobs than Barry and Mirallas.
I don't disagree with that, but they're different situations. Koeman didn't want Barry to leave but did the right thing by the player. If Mirallas leaves I'd presume it's because Koeman isn't that arsed about keeping him.

Maybe it's the same thing as with Barry mate, Mirallas has been here about 6 years now so maybe Koeman thinks he deserves the chance to move in a world cup year if he wants to get the game time?
Overall a good way to manage veteran players, and ensures you don't end up with a steaming dog turd in the dressing room like Terry was
