Lukaku was "worth" £28M because he has several of his best years ahead of him, with massive resale value.

Mirallas will at best improve slightly in a more consistent side if his heart's in it, and will be sold for a loss by anyone who keeps him more than two years.

I love Belgium journalists and their constant rumours.

Most of them probably went years without being able to write anything interesting. Nobody outside Belgium cares about their league and their national team was rubbish for ages.

Then all of a sudden all these top belgium players come from nowhere and start Playing for all the big sides around Europe. Finally something to write about!

The only problem is that none of them play in Belgium so their access is limited to when the national team meet up. The one positive to this is that because none of these players play in the Belgium league the journalists can write whatever they like without the risk of upsetting anyone in Belgium. Hence one of their main themes seems to be "everton are not good enough for 2 of our big names. We must link them to someone better!".

I always have this funny image in my head of Kev walking into training with Belgium and 6 journos running to catch him shouting "kev- can we say your unhappy and want a move and that bayern, ok not bayern that's mental, Dortmund much better, are interested?!". And kev saying "er yeah whatever. If it means you'll all go away".

In short- I don't think we'll get any more than 12mil for kev because of his age/patchy form/personality/injury record. Therefore I think we should sign him up to a 4 year deal and get what will hopefully be his prime years.

Mirallas is a game changer, a goal scorer, a goal creator...he's a very very good player, unplayable at times and would be near impossible to replace with our budget and standing as a mid table side.

I'm 50/50 on keeping him as i think Martinez could get a good replacement in yet Mirallas is a top player when fit and on form.

think it was mainly because his hammys tend to go often, don't think he was "benched" in a negative manner. also Rom says things as well, it just happens when reporters ask you questions, think it's more of an issue with the Belgian media than the players themselves. I doubt Kev is sitting there ringing up reporters to give comments too

When he plays we always have a chance...but we should punt McGeady and bring in a LW even if mirallas stays.

Exactly. We should be trying to keep Mirallas as much as possible. I think this window has shown that we can't attract the likes that would better us without spending a fortunate in wages and/or transfers and with Mirallas still being only 27 financially the best thing for the club is to keep him.

I definitely think we where interested in players like Ayew and Payet etc but with the money in the premiership it's going to be difficult keeping our wage structure and still be able to attract the likes of these players. We also have more than enough young players with potential, I'm not saying I wouldn't swap McGeady for another one of those but not Mirallas.

Unless he was being disruptive, if I was the club I would take the one year option on his contract and then tell him I want him to see it out. He was a bargain buy that's become one of our best players, and the fact that he's injury prone means we won't get a price that reflects his true value anyway.
