Interesting stuff in tomorrow's Guardian:

http://www.theguardian.com/football...ton-must-satisfy-ambitions-of-kevin-mirallas?

Roberto Martínez has conceded Everton must show they can satisfy Kevin Mirallas’ ambitions before the Belgium international commits to a new contract at Goodison Park. The influential Mirallas, 27, was approached over a fresh deal earlier this season but has delayed a decision until the summer, when he enters the final 12 months of his current contract. Everton, significantly, have an option to extend it by a further year.

Does that mean we can extend it without his say so? Would at least mean we get more money for him if he's sold.

“Kevin is on a long-term contract. It is not as if his contract is up at the end of the season,” the Everton manager said. “Kevin is happy with his football but I think it is only normal to see where we are as a football club before he signs a new contract or decides what he wants to do. I don’t see him not signing now as a sign of anything. It doesn’t make any difference whether you have a two year deal or a six year deal nowadays. If you want to move on you will do it whether you have a long term or short term contract.

Hmmm....

@HLNinEngeland: Tottenham, Atlético and Borussia Dortmund all made an enquiry for Kevin Mirallas, but Martinez told them he's not for sale. #EFC #THFC
If those teams supposedly interested are actually interested then you can't really blame him for wanting to go. If he went to Tottenham though...there would be uproar.
