Roberto Martínez has conceded Everton must show they can satisfy Kevin Mirallas’ ambitions before the Belgium international commits to a new contract at Goodison Park. The influential Mirallas, 27, was approached over a fresh deal earlier this season but has delayed a decision until the summer, when he enters the final 12 months of his current contract. Everton, significantly, have an option to extend it by a further year.
“Kevin is on a long-term contract. It is not as if his contract is up at the end of the season,” the Everton manager said. “Kevin is happy with his football but I think it is only normal to see where we are as a football club before he signs a new contract or decides what he wants to do. I don’t see him not signing now as a sign of anything. It doesn’t make any difference whether you have a two year deal or a six year deal nowadays. If you want to move on you will do it whether you have a long term or short term contract.
Only way I can imagine it being without his say so would be something automatic like number of starts/appearances.Interesting stuff in tomorrow's Guardian:

Does that mean we can extend it without his say so? Would at least mean we get more money for him if he's sold.
Hmmm....
If those teams supposedly interested are actually interested then you can't really blame him for wanting to go. If he went to Tottenham though...there would be uproar.@HLNinEngeland: Tottenham, Atlético and Borussia Dortmund all made an enquiry for Kevin Mirallas, but Martinez told them he's not for sale. #EFC #THFC

Unkess they get relegated - they are currently joint last in the table with 15 points.Of course Spurs is no upgrade, but Dortmund are a big attraction, no matter what their league position is.

Currently in the table but I'm pretty sure his time in England will have made him realise they're not.Spurs is no upgrade?
I beg to differ my Friend.
Pienaar thought so too - for a while.Spurs is no upgrade?
