I was pleased with Bilyaletdinov yesterday, I thought he involvement in the game was much better and he wanted to be that creative force and that pleases me. I'm still not convinced about his partnership with Baines but I'm sure he'll be used on either side once Pienaar returns.

He still hasn't fully adapted to the pace of the game but I see glimpses of real quality from him, he'll improve with better footballers around him.

I'm gutted he's got a red card, he's had a very stop start career at Everton so far. He hasn't really been able to build any momentum. hopefully we'll see him against Benfica though.

Yeah he did well. Team did well, just lacking that edge to finish teams off.
That defence bar Jags is the defence I want.

Just wondering who will drop out of midfield when our players get back.

Howard

Neill/Neville
Jagielka
Distin
Baines

Bilyaletdinov
Rodwell
Arteta
Pienaar

Saha
Yakubu

Long term I'd like to see something like that, if we ever get a settled squad fit and available for selection this season. I'm still dreaming of a Yakubu-Saha partnership, it really could be devastating.

Fully agreed. We'd be able to rotate it to allow Rodwell to develop and revert to 4-5-1 for Stamford Bridge and the like. It would also force Cahill and Fellaini to fit into the system rather than us forcing to fit into their system.

I say this with nothing but praise for Mr Cahill however.

I just donr get why people try an do their "best 11" any more. Footballs moved on from that. It's about squads an different players for different games.

TB, someone like you that trys to talk such a good game. Im quite suprised.

Long term I think it's vital that we get away from using players like Cahill and Fellaini behind the main striker. Especially when you see a striker like Yakubu who links play more than both of them, even when he's playing upfront on his own.

Our problem is Moyes rarely gets his first choice midfield on the pitch and anything but our first choice midfield struggles in a four man midfield, we need Fellaini or Cahill dropping deeper when we don't have the ball to keep it tight and make up for our lack of pace, inability to retain possession and lack of physical presence.

With that midfield though, especially at home, I think 4-4-2 could be a very effective formation for us. Especially with Arteta controlling possession and the movement in forward positions.

Every manager has an idea of there first eleven and what there strongest side is, I don't see what your problem is. It's not like I'm saying this side should play all the time, I understand that a season is long, players get injuries and there will be rotation, occasionally.

It's just a side I'd like to see given a go (when everyone's fit) and a team I think could be effective given the chance.

There's no such thing as a "best 11" any more.

Im a big fan of Fallaini an id play with him in a 5 midfield with better players around.

Also Rodwell has been very, very poor the last 3-4 weeks. He's not ready yet..!!! How you can put him before Cahill is beyond me.

Ah you say that, but yesterday he bust a gut to get things moving, turned around and no ****er was with him, and it was on the right side of midfield - Cahill's position.

TBH mate, he does some good things in the game, and i facy him to be a star of the future. But latley he's been quiet as a mouse in the middle. We need players to show for the ball an he's been hideing. He's not the only one......
