One of the consolations of turning 50 is experience: knowing full well that when Everton are widely considered to be outperforming expectations during a transfer window, the balloon is already slowly deflating. Some of the glee on here last night was bewildering. Never forget: Bill is back in the thick of it. Experience tells auld arses that that never ends well...

Feels like a maths test I took at school once and haven't forgotten.

My work was neat and tidy as noted by the teacher but ultimately at the end the answer was wrong so I got 0 marks.

Not giving them a zero here and still time but it does feel like we are not ensuring we maximise the otherwise good work done and the potential consequences are worrying.
