I think he is just being realistic.
If the money was available we would have got the players in for pre season.
I think the club are trying to buy players on the never never and they are being told to cough up some money

Don’t think, you don’t think wow. How the hell are we supposed move forward, by replacing a starting midfielder with someone who’s not as good

My god some of you in here, Your ambition Is on the floor. The only way he joins is as a last resort on deadline days when there’s nobody left, bit like when we got maupay. Would you rather sign Dewsbury hall, who’s a better player on a year loan. Or Brownhill and have him on a 3yr contract. Would make zero sense to sign brownhill

Have you been hiding under a rock, we have money, we’ve spent 50mil and in the last week bid 31mil for a winger in France And 27mil for a kid at Southampton. We’re trying to get top players in and it’s proving hard to attract them , their clubs are playing hard ball wanting top dollar. Obviously we need 5/6 more players and can’t spend 30/40mil on all of them, so some will be loans.

Are you living on another planet? 2 weeks until the start of the season and we don't have a squad yet.
These bids of 27mil and 31mil have been submitted have they? So when are the players arriving?
They will be scrambling around for loan deals on transfer deadline day because either the money isn't there or just basic brains to actually get some players in.
 

In 42 matches 18 goals 6 assist. Those are excellent numbers for a central midfielder in a very tough league.

A team needs balance not every player can be a sexy signing.

Also officially left Burnley 5 days ago so hasn’t “been available for a month”

But we play in a much tougher league in which he has 6 goals in over a hundred games. He should be starring in Welcome to Wrexham next year if anything - that’s his level

There must be hundreds of players we can get on loan that will do as good of a job as him.

Let’s put it another way. He will want at least a 3 year contract. Do you want a 32 year old Josh Brownhill trotting out to play for Everton at Bramley Moore in 2027-2028.

He was playing for Sean Dyches Burnley. I am completely fine with 32 year olds playing for Everton. This isn’t FIFA you need all kinds of players to build a squad.

Haven’t played FIFA this century. Is it any good. 32 year olds who have actually proven themselves at the top level maybe

Josh Brownhill is not good enough for our club. I can’t believe this is a thing

I think the core point you're making, which is probably being missed is not that Brownhill is brilliant, but that we need some depth in the squad and probably need a bit of experience.

Tim and Armstrong may each (or both) kick on but we are not sure. If they do, Brownhill is a cheap back up. If they don't, he can fill in. Buying in another speculative player just amplifies our risk.

It's sort of why I don't know the idea of a Jack Harrison loan IF we get a first choice right winger as a bit of a utility man. I kicked off a lot about Ashley Young, but he did a solid job for us really.
 
With no links or rumours currently, I don’t think his arrival is at all likely.
But for the sake of argument if we are targeting players of the quality of Brownhill why did we allow so many players , who were at least as good and possibly superior to him , leave ?
Signing a 29 years old , unexceptional lower league player makes releasing the other players utterly pointless.
I hope all those championing signing this level of player are also campaigning for the return of Harrison.
We can and hopefully will sign better ( or at least younger) than this particular player.
