Transfer Rumour Josh Brownhill

Gone from Luiz, Fofona, Grealish to Brownhill. Everton that.
To be fair it’s not necessarily Everton , there are no reliable links or rumours to even suggest the possibility of this signing.
Rather he has become the patron Saint of those who have fully entered panic mode with four weeks of the window remaining.
If there is one thing we should have learned by now it’s that if you sign rubbish players you end up with a rubbish team.

Bobble was talking about this deal on his latest Podcast.

I think the core point you're making, which is probably being missed is not that Brownhill is brilliant, but that we need some depth in the squad and probably need a bit of experience.

Tim and Armstrong may each (or both) kick on but we are not sure. If they do, Brownhill is a cheap back up. If they don't, he can fill in. Buying in another speculative player just amplifies our risk.

It's sort of why I don't know the idea of a Jack Harrison loan IF we get a first choice right winger as a bit of a utility man. I kicked off a lot about Ashley Young, but he did a solid job for us really.

Exactly. I have never suggested signing Brownhill as our main midfield signing to take us up a level, but as is ever the case there can be absolutely no room for a middle ground on here. A signing must be a superstar that’s going to instantly elevate us, or they’re an absolute bum wage drain.

I think people have just given up on Everton .
They have abandoned hope and are accepting of mediocrity, while pretending to be angry about actually being mediocre.
Good analogy, it's almost like they've forgotten we've just finally managed to free our wage bill up a little by seeing mediocre players contracts coming to an end and want to bring in mediocre players to fatten the squad up again. The only mediocre player I'd be happy with and who's been linked is Ainsley as he at least covers the full back positions and defensive midfield which in smaller squads is vital
