Jonny Evans. Strongly linked by proper newspapers. Hmm.

Assuming he comes for, lets say, 6m upfront, then is he ?

The Northern Ireland defender has been hampered by injuries and has not been given a new contract

Sportsmail revealed at the start of the summer that Evans would not be given a new deal, unlike central defensive team-mates Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, and that Everton were leading the interested clubs.

Having come through the ranks at United, he has won three Barclays Premier League medals and two League Cups but has been hampered by injuries in recent years.

Last season, Evans played a part in 17 of United's matches last season, 14 of which in the Premier League.

Decent back up with bags of experience.

I'd be less impressed if he was coming in as first choice but he's not so I'm happy enough.

Doubt it will be 8 million up front but even if it is it's probably about right - I just hope it's not at the expense of another attacking option.

Ian Ladyman has got good sources at United so i think the deal will be closer to £7m like. If its £4m upfront and loads of add ons that most likely wont get paid, i guess it's okay.

I don't mind Evans but it was always about the price for me and if those figures of 8m are to be correct, then thats probably the worst bit of transfer related news ive heard (in terms of money) for aslong as i can remember.

8m for Evans. The mancs must be dancing a jig right now. Certainly pay back for us getting 27m for Fellaini

8 million not to mention id be surprised if he was on anything less than 60k week

Don't think he'll get £60k lad, most likely £45/50k bracket (similar to Cleverley). Also, it's reported as 'potentially £8mil'). I really don't think it'll be that much up front.
