You've dropped to 10m from 25m and added a mediocre defender to the deal.

I wouldn't want Richards and we should keep Lescott unless they offer stupid money.

COYB

If by mediocre defender you mean incredibly gifted young England Centre-Half/Right Back then I agree.

Er.... no. :P

I haven't followed his career like, but from what i've seen of him in full 90min matches, I don't think he's outstanding.

I'm not sayin he's [Poor language removed], he's one of many English youngster's in the game who have potential, but not every player realises their potential.

We could do with a RB, but if the club decided they wanted him, i'd rather get him for 3-5m and keep Lescott.

Honestly think Upson will end up at City well before Lescott - he seems much more likely to welcome a move as are West Ham.

If they're after a second CB, they'll either chase some 'big-name' glamour foreigner - Lucio/Naldo/Mexes type.

Or, now that Arsenal have signed up this Belgian character, they have an easier go at getting Hangeland.

What's that gotta do with City getting Hangeland?

Also I do think Vermaelen signing is a sign of Toure leaving

I meant a left sided centre back mate.

Toure has a year left on his contract is getting on a bit and is away at the ACN Feb, makes good big buissness sense for Arsenal to sell him for a reported 12mill it would be very much Wengers style i.e Henry, Viera etc.

May or may not influence a deal for Lescott, i choose to hope, they also have Kompany, Richards and Dunne who play there.
Sorry but I just don't see how a player who is playing from time to time on right side of defence, can be actually left sided centre back. Makes no sense for me...

is it true Wolves have a 15% sell on fee for Lescott?
So if we did get 20 mil for him, its more like 17 mil.. Minus whatever else doesn't go to transfers..

Keep him I say!

I can only remember Villa, Arsenal & City being repeatedly linked with Hangeland, for Wenger to blow 10m on one centreback, to then chase another one for 10m(ish) seems unlikely whilst they still have Toure, Gallas, Silvestre, Song, Djourou and Senderos coming back from his loan - leaving City with one less club competing for his signature.

Can't see Toure being the one to leave (unless City offer big money) - thought Gallas was the one causing major rifts in their squad?

Everton may have to cash in on a leading player and expect a bid from Manchester City for defender Joleon Lescott.

The world's richest club will be told nothing less than £20m could persuade them to sell.

The Mirror.

i think given that jagielka won't be back playing til november (and probably not match sharp til much later) and joey will be off to the ACN in january means that i suspect this won't happen this year. we would need serious money to make this worth our while, and i mean more than 20 million.

Baines tells Moyes to stop dithering.

Leighton Baines has great faith that manager David Moyes will bring more top-quality talent to Goodison.

Despite not paying too much attention to this summer's transfer speculation, the Blues left-back hopes to welcome new arrivals to the Club during the summer. And he knows his boss will make the best decisions for the Club when the time is right.

“Not much tends to happen at this stage - it's more when we're back training,” Baines told evertonTV. “There's already been quite a few big money moves and hopefully we can get involved in the market at some point and strengthen the squad to give is a chance to kick on.

“It's been proven time and time again now that he (Moyes) does get it right. You could list the names and I think people all know the lads who he's brought in at really good prices who have done a fantastic job for this Club.

“He won't be rushed; he's shown that in the past. He'll take his time and make sure he gets the right person at the right price.”

The defender paid a visit to the Blues’ Finch Farm training complex to maintain his fitness during the close-season, and he admitted even three weeks on from the FA Cup final defeat, the disappointment still remains.

You tell him Leights lid. Its nearly July and we havent signed anybody, MOYES, KENWRONG, ROUND, ELSTONE OUT!!

There's no point selling our best players, especially to teams that we'll be competing with next season. Apart from at the start of the season just gone Lescott has been nothing short of brilliant. He gets his fair share of goals, can play comfortably as a CB and a LB and is composed on the ball.
