We need Lescott, we cannot afford to let him go. Jags is out until after Xmas, Rodwell is too young to step up as a full time CB so we are left with Lescott and Yobo. The latter half of the season has demonstrated that Yobo is suffering from brain fade. If we are to have any chance of success next season in the Europa Cup and Premiership then Lescott has to stay. The only realistic replacement would be Upson.

To talk of selling him to finance other signings is in my opinion a nonsense. Success for a team means having a strong defence not goal scorers up front.

Yep, 'stability' is the watchword at Everton...until it doesn't suit. We need to keep the Jagielka/Lescott pairing together. Yobo is second rate and talk of slotting Rodwell in there is absurd at this stage.

I've read enough now, though, to believe the ground is being prepared for his sale. It'll all be Lescott's doing like. :dodgy:

It is starting to look like that is the case, Dave. I think the signs were there a few days ago when the story started to take off, yet Moyes merely made a vague statement about not needing to sell anyone.

They are the traditional words used to open the annual Everton auction, mate. 'What are you waiting for, it's June' is the message he was sending out in reality. Cant blame Moyes, I suppose.

I trust Moyes' judgment on this. What can he do given the financial constraints he has? If he thinks £20m is enough to improve things despite Joleon's exit, that's good enough for me.

But he's not gone yet, and I'm sure Moyes will still be turning the scenarios over in his mind.

What annual Everton auction? We're hardly a selling club, although I suppose that would remove an opportunity for you to s.lag someone at the club off

For both Johnson and Beattie, and im sure Kilbane and Davies probably, Moyes issued a "hand off - no contact has been made" statement....think thats what he is on about

Anyways, if Lescott does leave it will be entirely his doing, and he will therefore be booed on return. As i've said many times before, ive never sensed he was loyal to Everton - although ive got no reasoning behind it!

Personally, i wouldnt be surprised to see him go to Chelsea - He's been bumming John Terry for the past few months.

One story suggesting he might leave, and everyone is against him all of a sudden!

I like.

Cash in on him now, move Rodwell to CB, he will be the dogs bollocks there.

I was merely pointing out that there is not 1 white face in that picture, they are all yellow.

Keep on topic please.

Ok, so Joleon goes, we take in £20m in CASH, spend £14m on the MOUT, £10m on a solid replacement for Joleon, and you're saying we'll be worse off?

Stop dangling The Mout at me FFS. Thats not even fair...........

It would depend. I mean, do we NEED The Mout? Hes not the right sided player we need. We have plenty of CMs. Only really Arteta who has the same skillset as Mr Moutinho, but we still have lots of options.

CB and LB we dont have as many. Who would be this "solid replacement". There arent a great deal of quality CBs out there at the moment. And whos going to be Baines replacement should he pick up a knock?

For me, the only way I would be happy would be a stupid amount of money and Moyes would need to act fast. Not for us, the fans, we are fickle. But for the squad really. If we sold Lescott, the other players would be thinking, hmmmmmmmm. He would need to go and spend the money the next day.

We are already looking at a bad start to the season. Its going to be a tough pre-season for Yakubu, can he get fit?, can he stay injury free?, is he the same player?

Arteta will be out for a while, so when he comes back we have the same situation. And then later still Jags to come back.

So this replacement we buy, he will need time to settle, adjust and then he will be watching and waiting for Jags to return, that could either spur him on or destroy him

Imagine being a new boy, just waiting for your new clubs player of the season to return from injury.

Basically its a problem we dont need. For me, unless this German kid is ready, we already need to buy a CB and possibly a LB. We have no cover untill Xmas for either postion.

It really depends what Choo Choo has done with regards for pennys for Moyes to spend.
