Cant have it both ways, cant appluad of wonderful team spirit and then expect team mates to [Poor language removed] on each other.

Cahill is just coming out in support of his team mate, while it might not be the best thing to say, at least it shows the other players realise what hes doing.

Surely everybody realises that he can at least double his wages, its a lot to ask him to stay. I might be angry, but I can see why hes doing it, doesnt mean I wont boo his every touch on Saturday.

He was never gonna come out and trash Lescott I guess.

Exactly. They're full of [Poor language removed]. It's an insult to every normal human being. They're so outside the orbit of everyday life thay can come out with that stuff.
Come on, davek. I wouldn't have expected that of you (more of me if I'm honest).

We all collaborate in the fiction - as a public we enjoy having the wool pulled over our eyes about our club and our spirit and our history and our fans. And we fight like cats and dogs about Kirkby and Rooney and Moyes. But when it comes to paying the bills, and dealing with illness, and worrying about the kids, it doesn't matter - it's an escape from reality.

I love Cahill as a player, but his comments stick in my craw as well, not because of the monetary aspects, but because he's pulled aside the curtain and we see that the great and wonderful Everton Oz is just another (moderately successful) little cash-generating exercise milking its consumers.

I just hope that when he's enjoying the next goal he scores in front of the Park End, a little voice saying "I wonder how many of them think I'm a mercenary tit as well?" spoils the moment ever so slightly for him..

Nah come on mate, of course we understand the players know what's going on.

But for Cahill to say he is thinking of his family. Does that mean he can buy more stuff they don't need?

Plus the timing, it's [Poor language removed] house material.

Fair enough Timmy is supporting his mate, which is what I would expect. But how the hell is it a Catch 22 situation? It's about as far from that as I can imagine. He either stays at Everton or moves to City for money. Jospeh Heller would turn in his grave.

Sparky Hughes - "It comes down to the club themselves and if they feel they don't want to do a deal they are within their rights to do that and we respect that, irrespective of the player himself and how he feels about it."

I honestly wouldnt be surprised with Moyes sticking to his guns and not selling him.

But I hope he gets flogged only when we get players in before the window closes.

I think we should flog him after the world cup as he will need to perform at his best this season to be in contention for the england squad. Everton have him by his short and curlys at this moment in time. I think we should cheer the fooker and make him realise what he would of been giving up, true support from real fans!!

Thats an excellent point, he would still have 2 years left wouldn't he.

Hughes hopeful over Lescott deal

Manchester City have already had two bids for Lescott rejected this summer

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has not given up hope of signing Everton centre-back Joleon Lescott.
The Toffees have turned down a transfer request from the 26-year-old England international and have rejected bids of £15m and £18m for him from City.
Everton boss David Moyes has insisted Lescott is not for sale.
But Hughes said: "We are still trying to speak to the people who will ultimately make the decision over whether the deal continues."
He added: "Those conversations are still to take place but how long they will still be active is open to debate."
City are likely to move on to other defensive targets if they cannot persuade Everton to sell their versatile defender.

Am I the only thinking we should stop the Lescott chase? Everton clearly don't want to let him go

Hughes has already signed Kolo Toure from Arsenal for £14m this summer but is eager to give his squad more depth in that department.
"We were looking to strengthen the defensive options we have got," explained Hughes. "We have done that in respect of Toure, we are very pleased he is here.
"I have stated we would like further strengthening to take place but if not we go with what we have got."
Lescott joined Everton for £5m in June 2006 from Wolves and has developed into one of the Premier League's leading defenders.
He can play at left-back as well as at the heart of the defence and his progress has also resulted in him becoming a regular in the England squad.

Essentially from Hughes, Moyes is just a manager, we want to speak to Kenwright, who can make the decision above Moyes.

I personally think we should sell, but kenwright is quite clear that the decison is made by Moyes. He did say that talks are ongoing, which is a worry ~ who are citeh talking to?
