everton declared months ago "we wont sell anyone" but hughes still said he wanted lescott and still made a bid.
we said "no , we are not selling anyone " but hughes made yet another bid.

just to note that the first mention i heard of lescott being a target was from mark hughes during a press conference not the everton board !
the whole saga is a press gang sale in the media.
man city paid no attention what so ever to evertons requests and unsettled the player through the media through out the summer and have continued to do so ..fact.
its nothing less than condescending , lack of respect for everton ,bully boy , aggresive buying.

Yeah the City fans are all saying it's our fault for going public when it was in fact they who went public with the bid, not us. We only went public when we rejected it about 20 mins later.

If I was being offered twice the amount of money to do my job but for a different company, it would be a real no brainer. The difference for fans is that the football "universe" is seen differently, somehow apart from real life.

Its not easy to see why. If in real life if you said that you were resigning and your employer said no, you'd say "do one, with knobs on it". Football is seen as something different which is why we have transfer rules which is outside anything that operates in any other industry. Loyalty can be "enforced".

Bottom line. The days of loyalty are over. We have to deal with these things in a business way, as much as it pains me to say.

The hospital I currently work at hired me as a new grad right out of college. So they intern had to spend about $75-100K US to train me and I've been working as an RN for 9 months. They didn't have to do this, there wasn't much of a job market for new grads even for RNs in the crapfest economy. Plus most new grads tend to split after getting a year of experience. After graduation the hosp I currently work at wasn't my 1st choise (they turned me down) though I'm sure in a few months if I wanted to, I could go back to the 1st choise hosp (or any hospital), and get a few extra $$$/hr as well. But I won't do that, I like where I work now and feel like I owe the hosp that stuck their neck out and hired me right out of school, trained me and made me a decent/good (I think) RN.

However if any hospital comes up to me and offers me double my salary at over $50/hr well then I'd defo have to think about it.

absolute rubbish mate.

if you trawled through most city forums we have said time and time again that hughes doesnt give anything away to the press and its a running joke on our forums(VMC).

it was only put to hughes about his lescott bid when EVERTON put it on your OS not after hughes spoke about lescott which he only said in terms of " i only speak about players at city and not players at other clubs"

you find me a link to hughes saying otherwise and i will gladly say how wrong i am but the facts are your mad with your board, manager and lescott and looking to blame city for it.

well another bit of proof that its not the evrton board but man citys in fact 'tapping up' lescott .............

we havent agreed a fee , yet every paper knows that lescott will double his wages ...... where has that info come from ? yes thats right ...man city. what right have they to talk about wages when they havent even got the right to talk to the player.

it doesnt matter what way you look at it , man city have been totally under handed.

lets say the shoe was on the other foot ,man city say none of there players are for sale , everton then bid 5 million for one of there players , man city say "no he is not for sale like we said weeks ago " , then everton let it be known behind the scenes to the press that we would double the players wages wages ......... of course the player is then gonna demand a move.

its a disgraceful way to do business imo and not right.

Lescott

He is after putting himself in a very awkard position now.

This the season before a world cup as well.

Good on Moyes for sticking to his guns.

Although we all want loyalty and honesty from our players, who wouldn't move if someone offered double your wages?
I think honestly though, footballers are making a feckin WEDGE already. Premier League players are surely earning enough money, what difference is it gonna make? How many cars do they want to buy?

Aren't salaries discussed/agreed when there is a formal transfer submitted?

i think you will find mate that man city were mentioning lescott for atleast 4 weeks before everton even acknowledged an interest in him on our os.

This is clearly all down to money. FFS sake he only signed a contract extension last year, so now CityBigLicks have come down with a paypacket concealed in a JCB, he's jumping ship. Which you can't really blame. But i think were all agreed here that the way he's gone about it is piss poor, its left everyone up the paddle without a creek.

Its a tuesday too, he should have done it on a monday.

This has happened before with Rooney. Giving the club the benefit of the doubt for a second, that on that occassion they were trying to sort that deal and get players in with the cash from Rooney's transfer, wouldn't you think they'd have learned fronm that experience? I mean, the same people are still there: Moyes and Kenwright. They know how prolonging a deal like this runs the clock down if you're a selling club with no other means to get players in.

I dont think they'd be that sloppy, to be honest. If the club dont sanction the sale by the end of August then fair enough. But if they do sell him at the death with no significant incomings then that's obviously a conscious act to bring cash in and not spend it this summer. We probably have a new stadium to pay for and my guess is the lions share from any Lescott sale will go in that direction.

Exactly. The guy is on 40,000 a week right now!! How much money does he want/need??

Nope. I blame City because from day one Everton said he was not for sale. Just because you have a ****load of money doesn't mean teams are going to roll over for you as we have proven.

You blame City for trying to sign one of our players? That happens, that's football at the end of the day. Just because they didn't make Moyes happy doesn't mean there doing anything wrong.

As far as I'm aware they've gone about all there signings in the right way, they certainly haven't broken any rules here.
