I don't understand why because he's a very skilful player. I suppose his decision making let's him down sometimes, but that should have been
coached out of him by now.

It’s a completely different skill set, at Centre half the whole game is in front of you. DM is required to receive the ball, often under pressure facing his own goal and ideally in as few touches as possible get a team playing through the lines. If stones has these qualities then he literally hasn’t shown them once in his career. Not having a go at your point mate. Old school DM maybe where you’re just hoofing it out for throw ins at the edge of your own box but that’s about it

He's a very good footballer imo, but I dont think he has the mental attitude to push himself to become a top class player. Listened to Pep talking about him cple months ago ' its upto himself if he wants to push on'. Maybe its having these injuries that is stopping him, really hope he sorts himself out. Be a waste of talent if he doesnt.
