John Stones

Lots of variables in this, how much they want for him for starters. Anything over 30 million and it's a no for me. If we still had Allardyce in charge what is he going to do in our team? No way would he be allowed to Cruyff turn in his own box anymore. (Not necessarily a bad thing)
We need a defender to come in and steady the ship not sink it. People saying he would be our best defender are missing the point, he would be a tiny upgrade (perhaps) out of a bunch of geriatrics and bang out of form players.
Pep bought him for his ball playing skills what we have learntis they are not good enough to make up for his defensive deficiences. So doesn't that make him pointless? Also once they get to the top and then step down again unless it is a blip and they think they can get back, the motivation goes. It may be there a few games but if things go against us he will sit back and shine his league winners medal. We need hungry players on the way up to supplement the others else we are just a team of mercenaries.
All of the highlighted and a good dose of the rest...the Barnsley Beckenbuar he ain't

Be mental not to take him back if he was open to it. Really like the Lascelles shout though too, cracking defender and a threat in the opposition box too.

John Stones, aged 23, League and League Cup winner: "hur hur hur not the Barnsley Beckenbauer, won't improve, wouldn't make us better, not good enough, won't ever be good enough"

DCL, aged 21, very bad: "give him time ffs, he's a young player, already played more minutes that he's had to, ok so he can't shoot which is quite important for a striker but leave him alone"

If its true that city are looking to sell then I suspect it's because they've got an FFP problem, otherwise it makes no sense. He's been very unlucky this season, he was excellent in the early stages but got injured and didn't come back quite the same and lost his place to Kompany.

I'd love to see a centre back pairing of Stones and somebody like Koulibaly of Napoli for us, but I'm aware of how much of a pipe dream that is.

His header on Sunday!!!!!!

I still think he'd make a better defensive midfielder than a centre back, at least until he cuts his mistakes out, he's a good footballer, average defender.

I thought this when he played for us... his touch and passing is good enough and he can nip infant of players and get the ball he has a decent stride and can tackle and as everyone knows is composed on the ball. His biggest weakness was overplaying at the back and it would lead to a goal or a real chance. In midfield he wouldn't be the last man

Never go back.

I would be going all in on Lascelles personally. Cracking defender and a leader as well.

Stones should go abroad. He would be boss in Spain or Italy.

Problem with Lascelles is i reckon right now he's playing as good or better than he ever will - anywhere else, home-grown lad for them who gives it everything every game, take that extra 5% away from - and reckon he'd just be average anywhere else mate

He's not from Newcastle Ste, he's from Nottingham or Derby I think.
