Joel Robles

So much better with him in nets, he's commanding, better on the floor than Tim, and crucially he looks BIGGER in the goal, he fills it out and puts off attackers. Tim is quite small for a keeper these days. He deserves a long run now does Joel. HOW MANY CLEAN SHEETS IS THAT NOW, ROBLES BABY?!!

right now joel's got less pressure on him than Howard ! If Howard makes half a mistake it just adds up and he's deffo feeling it when he plays which is passed on to the defence ! Joel seems a laid back kinda guy and deffo less intense than Howard which making the defenders feeling more at ease ! also like Joel cos he's massive ! remember pienaar saying in the tunnel before a game he used to look at fellaini and knew we'd be ok cos of his presence which intimidates the oppostion ! you look at joel and just think he'll come out and get crosses !

Happy to see him in -- there really isn't any reason to play Howard ever again at this point -- but let's not go overboard. Newcastle are pretty dreadful. The defense wasn't any more confident today than they were when we played them a few weeks ago. That being said, good solid performance and Robles should be in nets until the end of the season unless he goes completely off track.

He's great, he knows when to break out quickly and he knows when to wait.

He dominates his box and rushes off his line. He may not be the answer long term but he is definitely better than what our alternative is short term.

This for me is huge, the defence can push forward 5 yards knowing Joel will come out. The team look far more at ease with him in the nets.

Another clean sheet, ok nowt really to do but he did come out quick a few times, if he had stuttered he might of had to do something to save us but nipped in before anything happened, also great to see some goal kicks, get the action over the half way line, good stuff.

To be fair, tonight wasn't much of a test. He's confident, comes off his line, speaks to his defenders and his distribution is good. Would like to see him up against better opposition before we know if he can step up but looks promising.

Also did anyone else see that bit when he went ballistic at his defence second half?
