Joel Robles

Joel didn't have much more to do than Howard today, but what he did, he did well and looked calm and confident. Based on the calm and confident bit, if I was Martinez, I'd start him on Wednesday and use an excuse of continuity before the second leg of the semi to save Howard's face.

He won't like, Tim'll start on Wednesday.
Yes Joel is banned from prem games, unless Tim is injured!???????

Do you not just wonder why RM plays him ahead of Robles then? look Robles may not be the answer , but as you have said he looks far more than decent - give him a run in the team and lets see what he is made of - if he does not make it we need TWO Keepers!
Martinez hasn't trusted him. For all I know, he still doesn't -- we'll see Wednesday. I don't know why he hasn't. My best guess is that he doesn't do well in training, but that's just a stab in the dark. Robles is Martinez's guy, though, someone he's signed twice, so I doubt it's just because he doesn't like him or something.

Pretty much, and, to be fair to Martinez, he's been consistent in his backing to Tim so it's no great surpruise.

I've been impressed with Robles recently though. I was at the Barnsley game and he was a bag of nerves that night, but he's come on massively since then.
Agree, he looked nervous at first but he now 'looks' like a proper goalie, if you know what I mean.
Looks really confident.

Must be Howard's last full season with us before he goes back to the states.

Or Tim somehow can play poor , and keep his place the mystery will continue no doubts?

A like if you obviously mean Robles as Tim is not a lad anymore is he?

I presumed it was obvious I meant Robles !

Up to, and including Barnsley, he'd had quite a few poor performances and Howard was the better option. Yes, Robles kept a few clean sheets in that time, but he was never obviously better than Howard so I can see why Martinez persevered with Tim, but I'm firmly in the "Give Robles a run" camp now.

I still think we'll need a really good keeper in the Summer, but if Robles can prove me wrong then that'd be ace.
