Best one was the low claim from the whipped cross towards the end. Dangerous ball, and he chucked himself between bulk legs to catch it clean. Howard ain't going near that.

Need to give him a chance, Pete. Top class keepers don't get that way in 10 minutes. They need to play regularly, make mistakes, learn and improve. He has the natural talent, stature and confidence, and has already shown massive improvements in so few appearances (much better at claiming things, is more vocal etc).

We all want another Southall but Joel is a good keeper. Given time there's no reason he can't prove to be a brilliant one. He's done everything right so far.

Do you think that some keepers are just luckier than others as well?!

I get you make your own luck and that but if Howard was in goal today I would have expected that Stanislas free kick to deflect into the net.

Both 6

Howard's came against Saints, Spurs, Swansea, Villa, Newcastle and Man City. Joel has clean sheets against Boro, Dagenham & Redbridge, Carlisle, Newcastle, Stoke and Bournemouth.

Well that WBA goal was awfully unlucky, to a degree.
