If we can get him on loan with the option to purchase next summer I think that would be a good way to go.

There are better keepers out there but perhaps we are struggling to attract the names we really want.
Your second paragraph says it all. I doubt we have made any bids for top keepers at the price Hart would cost. No brainer to swerve this overrated, overpriced keeper.
Stay at Man City please.

While Hart is certainly an upgrade, the key question is how much of an upgrade vs. Stek compared to the price, and is the money best spent elsewhere?

I'd take Hart on loan (would be surprised to see him out on loan, City want him gone altogether) but would not pay a hefty transfer fee. And frankly, there is something to be said for team chemistry, not sure we really need the drama and baggage Hart would likely bring in any event. I would rather invest and improve Lukaku's contract and bring in a young playmaker that can actually both ways (not Mata, age 28). Is it too much to ask to buy on the up and coming rather than the downside of a career?

There's rumors City would ask for around 20m in the current market for a player of his quality and experienced that'd be a very good deal.

Also, what baggage exactly does Hart have?

loan may suit all parties.
WE get a potentially top drawer goalkeeper in for a year for minimal outlay.
City clear up a space and wages to bring in a new keeper.
Hart gets a year at a decent prem club to prove his ability, if he does well and we finish high he stays?

It is absolutely imperative that we sign him. Massive upgrade on what we currently have at GK. Sign him and we have a spine of Hart, Williams, Barkley and Lukaku. That's the nucleus of a title challenging side right there.

The more and more I think about this, the more open to the idea I become.

Hart is a very marmite keeper and makes some dreadful gaffs, but most players do and it's just that the scrutiny afforded to a keeper amplifies those mistakes.

However, how often have we heard of games wherein Hart has been consistently excellent and made saves that have won Citeh the game?

I'd be willing to suggest that, should Hart be away from the scrutiny and spotlight of the Citeh parade, he'd become a far more consistent keeper and quietly plod on through games with a good focus and some quietly excellent performances.

Beginning to get on the bandwagon now.

Would love him here but don't think City will be playing nice with us after us after fleecing them for Lescott, Rodwell and Stones. Think this will either be a permanent transfer or nothing at all.
