Had 15 years left didn’t he? Good that Griner is back home. Her story is a warning for others traveling abroad, particularly in places like Russia. The deal is an ethics question to a point. Do people think the damage the arms dealer will do to others outweighs the good that comes from the exchange? There’s not a right answer I don’t think.
It's not just an ethics issue, Biden will have recieved huge amounts of information from US intelligence on multiple factors before making this decison. Unlike trump he will have actually read them aswell.

Not just, but that question will have been asked. And if in 2 years we come to find the guy is back to his old ways and others are suffering as a result, there will be backlash. No one knows the future. It’s all a judgement call, and when you’re POTUS, inevitably half the country is always going to disagree with you no matter which decision you make. That’s the job though.
