This is unacceptable and gross, and that immigration reform needs to happen fast. There needs to be a better solution to detaining unaccompanied minors who try to enter the USA.

One step back then one step forward. This policy change is a welcome one.

Are they going to cut the increased fee I wonder. Doesn't mention it.

It went from what 750 to 1400 or some mad crap.

Pretty sure that will matter more to most.
I didn't see that either, but they should. Makes me want to write President Biden a letter about it, maybe I am more practical and send him a tweet instead lol

I know by working with the immigrant community that one of the biggest impediment for some of them to apply for citizenship is not having the resources to pay the application fees. Some Americans may think but it is only $1,400 but for some of these people that's a small fortune.

Yep the fee is the biggest hindrance.

I know 6 people happy to keep reapplying for their green card as a result.

They themselves have family and friends who were also thrown off by the fee

Specially given that paying the fee doesn't guarantee citizenship, there still many other steps to achieve before someone being granted such status. So for example if a person fails the citizenship test they will get a second chance and then after a second failure the application will be denied but USCIS gets to keep the fee.

Welcome move ,however, timely sad reminder of when and how the US (and the UK) are willing to turn a blind eye to human rights abuses.

Hard to claim the moral high ground when you're taking in the money for selling weapons.

How's it going under Biden then?
His administration is far from perfect but he has brought back some normality to the office of the President. He has rolled back at lot of Trump's executive orders that were disastrous towards immigrants and the environment. He has been working diligently on getting the country vaccinated and fixing the economy —instead of being on Twitter twitting conspiracy theories and bullying others. And he has yet to go golfing. So no bad for his first month in office but we are still have a long way to go and he still has a lot of work to do.
