Interesting that on a poll tracker I use, Biden's lead has now further extended to a 9.2 (the highest it's been in about a month and a half). Not only is he stemming the Trump fightbck but appears to be pulling away again.

For the context of this, you could read it either way. On the one hand he's building alead at the exact moment Trump pulled in support 4 years ago. The flip is that last time convention season was bad for Trump, so seeing a similar pattern again. Either way though, we must be about 70 days out, and Biden is over 9 in front. I haven't looked at swing polling yet, some chatter than Trump is close in NY which seems bizarre. Last week Michigan seemed a bit close for comfort, but will be interesting to see if they start shifting in line with national polls.

The last quality polling outfit I can find that did polling in NY (Siena) was back in June: Biden +25, which tracked with his numbers in May.

Polling averages in Michigan, which is polled much more frequently, remain at +8. That lead has held pretty steadily between 7 and 10 points since early June. I'm very curious to see polling in Michigan and Ohio since Tweetie went after Goodyear Tire.

I had a little look at the marginal polling, and the good week at national level seems to be mirrored. A slow increase in Michigan, Penssylvania etc and quite a big jump towards Biden on Arizona. He will be pleased.

The New York thing was a wild rumour really. Saw someone say the Trump camp feel they are within 5 points. Either it's a major abbheration, the polls are all completely out, Trumps team have lost the plot, or the person is lying. Apparently they are plunging loads of money into New York as well, but seems completely stupid if the numbers are even vaguely true.

Biden will be pretty happy though, it's a big convention for Trump. If there's isn't a bounce off this, you feel he's getting close to needing snookers.
